Job description

We are currently looking for a Full Stack Developer Intern for a 100% remote position on a large federal government project. This internship supports internal VetsEZ initiatives and federal healthcare IT efforts, providing students with hands-on experience in modern software development practices, AI-assisted development, and Agile delivery. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative, DevSecOps-oriented environment, contributing to real-world applications and learning tools such as AI technologies, Git, Postman, and Jira.
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, code, test, and debug applications using modern programming practices.
  • Collaborate with senior developers and technical teams to support software development initiatives.
  • Learn and apply tools and technologies, including AI tools, Git, version control, JSON, and testing tools.
  • Assist in maintaining code documentation and version control processes.
  • Support Agile development practices and participate in sprint planning and reviews.
  • Engage in problem-solving and troubleshooting for development challenges.
  • Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Academic or project-based experience in software development, object-oriented programming, or web development.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as Java or Python.
  • Basic experience with RESTful APIs and/or SQL (all three preferred).
  • Understanding of AI tools used to accelerate coding, testing, and CI/CD processes.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of version control concepts and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a multi-stakeholder, Agile, and DevSecOps environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.

Additional Qualifications:
  • Exposure to Git and version control tools.
  • Experience with JSON and API testing tools such as Postman or Swagger.

  • Must be able to obtain a Federal Government clearance (VetsEZ will assist in this process).
