Director Dcim information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Director of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Director of DCIM, you need deep expertise in data center operations, infrastructure management, and a strong background in IT or engineering, often backed by a relevant degree and leadership experience. Familiarity with DCIM software platforms (like Schneider Electric EcoStruxure or Nlyte), data analytics tools, and certifications such as Data Center Certified Associate (DCCA) or related credentials are typically expected. Outstanding leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are critical for managing teams and collaborating with stakeholders. These competencies ensure optimal data center performance, efficient resource utilization, and alignment with organizational goals in a highly technical environment.

What are the main challenges a Director of DCIM faces when managing large-scale data center operations?

A Director of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) often encounters challenges such as ensuring optimal uptime while balancing energy efficiency and resource utilization. Overseeing the integration of new technologies, coordinating cross-functional teams, and maintaining compliance with industry standards are key aspects of the role. Additionally, managing data-driven decision-making and responding quickly to unexpected incidents or capacity demands requires strong leadership and adaptability. Effective communication with IT, facilities, and executive leadership is crucial for successful operations and strategic planning.

What are Director DCIM roles and responsibilities?

A Director of DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) is responsible for overseeing the deployment, operation, and optimization of DCIM systems within a data center. Their primary duties include managing the integration of hardware and software platforms used to monitor and control data center assets, power usage, cooling, and overall infrastructure efficiency. They also lead teams to ensure uptime, operational efficiency, and compliance with industry standards, while developing strategies to improve data center performance and scalability. Additionally, Directors of DCIM often collaborate with IT, facilities, and executive leadership to align DCIM initiatives with organizational goals.

Job description

About the Role
Teserac is building neuronโ„ข, a unified AI-native platform for data center observability, intelligence, and workflow automation. neuronโ„ข processes real-time telemetry from thousands of sensors, meters, and control systems across heterogeneous data center environments, thereby giving infrastructure owners and operators the visibility to monitor, analyze, automate, and proactively manage power operations with full situational awareness. An embedded AI teammate serves as every operator's always-on co-pilot: detecting anomalies, correlating events, and surfacing recommendations 24/7.
We are seeking a Technical Product Owner to sit at the center of Teserac's product execution engine. This role sits between customer-facing Solutions Engineering and the engineering team, partnering closely with the Principal Architect and reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management in a flat org structure. You will translate customer requirements and technical discovery into structured, engineering-ready specifications; own the product and engineering backlog in Linear; run daily standups and agile rituals; and drive delivery velocity and release predictability.
This role also carries direct responsibility for the planning and successful execution of API integrations with third-party systems of record and systems of action (e.g., BMS, DCIM, telemetry platforms, monitoring tools, and related enterprise systems). You will help move Teserac from bespoke pilot builds to repeatable, scalable product delivery while strengthening our execution discipline.
Why Teserac
At Teserac you will be able to:
  • Make foundational decisions that will define Teserac's product development lifecycle for years to come.
  • Work on a rare combination of AI, real-time systems, and physical infrastructure.
  • Join a team with deep domain expertise in both battery/energy systems and software.
  • Receive competitive compensation with significant equity upside at a high-growth Series A company.

Why You Would Be a Good Fit
  • You are technically fluent and comfortable reading architecture diagrams, data flows, APIs, and system integrations.
  • You bring structure to ambiguity and can convert loosely defined customer needs into clear, engineering-ready specifications.
  • You are execution-oriented and care deeply about delivery velocity, accountability, and release predictability.
  • You are comfortable leading agile rituals (standups, sprint planning, retros, release readiness) and driving team accountability in an early-stage environment.
  • You thrive in AI-first development environments and actively use tools like Cursor and Claude Code as part of your daily workflow.
  • You want to continuously evolve how teams build software by adopting the latest AI tooling and development practices.
  • You are eager to optimize and evolve our use of Linear from improving how we review requirements, structure issues, to prioritizing work while planning 3 to 4 sprints ahead.
  • You want to influence decisions on tools and processes that increase engineering efficiency-and you live inside these tools every day.
  • A prior background in software development is a strong advantage, especially if you have written production code in prior roles.
  • You can challenge both engineering and customer-facing teams constructively to protect product integrity and scalability.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of product management, technical product ownership, or equivalent technical leadership experience
  • Demonstrated experience translating complex technical requirements into structured, engineering-ready specifications
  • Experience working closely with senior engineers and architects in production environments
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and release management
  • Experience running agile or scrum rituals and driving sprint discipline
  • Experience managing and coordinating API integrations with third-party systems
  • Ability to plan 3 to 4 sprints ahead and drive predictable delivery
  • Experience managing backlogs in Linear, Jira, or similar tools
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfort operating in early-stage, high-ambiguity environments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior background in software engineering or hands-on technical development
  • Experience in infrastructure software, DevOps, distributed systems, or real-time systems
  • Direct experience in the data center industry or network service provider industry
  • Strong understanding of how data centers operate, including power systems, BMS, DCIM, telemetry, monitoring, and operational workflows
  • Experience working with systems of record and systems of action used by data center operations teams
  • Exposure to AI-enabled or agent-based systems
  • Experience in hardware-software integrated environments

Benefits
  • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
  • Free Food & Snacks
  • Stock Option Plan
