We instill an environment where employees feel engaged, satisfied and able to contribute their unique skills and talents while living and working as their authentic selves. We provide extensive opportunities for personal and professional development, building both employee competence and organizational capability to fuel exceptional performance through an inclusive environment both now and in the future.

Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team that designs and delivers governed data solutions that enable clients and Advisory teams to access, understand, and use enterprise data safely across consulting, analytics, reporting, and product-adjacent workflows. You will lead and develop data engineering talent while serving as a hands-on technical partner across Kaufman Hall, Data Governance, Data Engineering, Architecture, Analytics, Product, and Managed Services. Responsibilities:

Lead, coach, and develop data engineers and technical contributors through performance management, career development, prioritization, and effective team operating rhythms.

Partner with Kaufman Hall and Advisory leadership to understand consulting analytics needs and translate them into governed, executable data solution plans.

Define and implement governed data access patterns based on user personas, approved datasets, usage boundaries, documentation requirements, and support workflows.

Translate business and consulting use cases into data personas, access levels, solution patterns, and implementation options, including curated extracts, governed views, Databricks workspaces, dashboards, APIs, natural-language analytics, and reusable analytics assets.

Design, develop, optimize, and enhance data solutions using Databricks, SQL, and modern cloud data technologies.

Create and maintain practical data documentation covering table grain, key fields, join guidance, lineage, refresh cadence, retention rules, data-quality limitations, and appropriate-use guidance.

Partner with Data Governance, data owners, Security, Compliance, Data Engineering, and Analytics teams to identify and mitigate documentation, quality, lineage, access, security, and compliance risks.

Serve as the accountable technical partner for Advisory data-solution intake, shaping requirements, coordinating execution across data teams, and ensuring delivered solutions are usable, governed, secure, and supportable.

Convert recurring consulting analytics needs into reusable governed data assets, accelerators, and productizable capabilities while promoting best practices for architecture, governance, quality, security, and operational support.

Partner with Managed Services, Architecture, Product, and other cross-functional teams to support scalable data pipelines, recurring analytics workflows, AI and advanced analytics use cases, technical documentation, and emerging data capabilities.

Qualifications:

Relevant degree preferred.

7 or more years of relevant experience required.

Experience leading, coaching, and developing data engineering teams or technical contributors required.

Experience designing and implementing governed data solutions using Databricks and modern cloud data technologies required.

Strong SQL, data transformation, data modeling, optimization, prototyping, and validation skills required.

Experience translating business or consulting use cases into scalable data solutions, reusable data assets, and analytics enablement capabilities required.

Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills with technical and business stakeholders.
