Job Summary:
The Director of Data & Analytics will lead a high-impact analytics team within a multi-unit hospitality environment. This leader will oversee a team of 2-4 managers and analysts and serve as a strategic partner to Operations, Finance, Culinary, and executive leadership.
The mandate extends beyond generating insights - this role ensures insights are accurate, actionable, adopted, and translated into measurable operational and financial outcomes. The Director will set the standard for analytical rigor, executive communication, and sustained delivery.
This role requires candidates to be located in one of the following cities with the ability to work in a hybrid model: Seattle, Washington, DC, New York, Boston, Austin, or Nashville.
Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
  • Develop and execute enterprise-aligned data and analytics roadmap as defined with Executive Leadership team.
  • Translate strategic priorities into clear analytical workstreams with defined milestones, ownership, and measurable outcomes.
  • Ensure analytics initiatives are embedded into business rhythms (QBRs, operational reviews) and sustained beyond initial rollout.
  • Anticipate emerging industry and consumer trends and proactively identify opportunities to create incremental value.

Executive Storytelling & Communication
  • Serve as the data subject matter expert and present analytics and data to the client stakeholders.
  • Review and approve major analyses, reports, and strategic deliverables to ensure consistency, completeness, and credibility.
  • Serve as the primary translator of complex analytics into clear, compelling narratives for executive and field leadership.
  • Establish a consistent communication cadence with senior leadership on team progress, key findings, risks, and value delivered.
  • Elevate the team's storytelling capability - coaching on structuring insights for influence, not just information.
  • Ensure presentations and reports are tailored to diverse audiences, from C-suite executives to property-level operators.

Technical Capabilities
  • Advanced SQL querying (CTEs, window functions, subqueries, complex joins) to aggregate, transform, and normalize data across disparate systems for data analysis and dashboard enablement.
  • Data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema, dimensional modeling) and experience developing stored procedures, views, and materialized views.
  • Oversee data validation and quality assurance checks.
  • Writing scalable and maintainable SQL for analytics workflows.
  • Set and enforce rigorous standards for analytical accuracy, data integrity, and methodological soundness.
  • Standardize KPI definitions and performance metrics across properties to drive alignment and accountability.

  • Oversee and implement pricing strategy and recommendation across portfolio and

    • Participation rates, mobile ordering trends, and guest satisfaction
    • Menu and product mix optimization
    • Labor scheduling and productivity
    • Cost controls and waste reduction
  • Convert complex datasets into practical recommendations that operators can execute immediately.
  • Ensure initiatives are tracked through implementation and impact measurement.

Execution & Accountability
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation and sustained measurement.
  • Implement milestone tracking and clear ownership structures for all major initiatives.
  • Maintain forward momentum across competing priorities in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Hold team members accountable for both quality of work and timely delivery.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts.
  • Build a high-performance culture grounded in ownership, follow-through, and measurable results.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide targeted development opportunities.
  • Develop succession plans and future leaders within the analytics function.

Technology & Infrastructure
  • Oversee BI tools and reporting platforms supporting POS, labor, supply chain, and financial systems.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable data architecture.
  • Balance innovation with usability to ensure adoption across field operators.

Qualifications:
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in analytics, strategy, or consulting roles, with 3+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Experience within hospitality, foodservice, retail, or other multi-unit consumer environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders through structured, persuasive storytelling.
  • Strong track record of delivering high-quality analytical outputs with measurable business impact.
  • Deep understanding of unit economics, operational KPIs, and service-driven business models.
  • Data visualization expertise (PowerBI, Tableau, or similar).
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic environments requiring agility and prioritization.
