Cybersecurity & Privacy Senior Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Cybersecurity & Privacy Senior Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 firm in Washington, D.C.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with 5+ years of experience to join a nationally recognized Cybersecurity & Privacy practice within a premier Litigation & Trial group. The role offers significant responsibility advising clients through sophisticated cybersecurity incidents, data breach investigations, privacy matters, and complex crisis management situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and advise clients through cybersecurity incidents, data breach investigations, and incident response efforts.

  • Counsel clients on privacy compliance, regulatory obligations, and emerging cybersecurity laws.

  • Manage all phases of breach response, including forensic investigations, regulatory notifications, internal investigations, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Advise organizations on crisis management and legal issues arising from cyber incidents.

  • Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas to provide comprehensive legal and business solutions.

  • Mentor junior attorneys and play a significant role in client relationship management and business development initiatives.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.

  • Active Bar membership in good standing.

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, data privacy, breach response, incident investigations, crisis management, or related litigation.

  • More experienced candidates with significant relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Background or experience in information security, computer science, or other technical disciplines is a plus.

  • Exceptional analytical, drafting, client counseling, and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage complex matters in a collaborative environment.
