Job description


As Senior Director of Datacenter Design, you will lead a global team responsible for all data hall design for OCI. This role is responsible for leading the team consisting of design engineers, technical program managers, and software developers to ensure on-time delivery of design projects, working with cross-functional teams to establish standards that enable better power/space utilization while maintaining flexibility to adapt data centers to different use cases. You will work closely with the Infrastructure Delivery, Supply Chain, Physical Networking, Datacenter Operations, and software automation teams to further optimize the data center design and fit-out process. The position requires a high degree of energy, passion, outgoing personality, technical competence and integrity.
Responsibilities
  1. Design Leadership
  • Own the communications strategy for datacenter design decisions which includes executive level and detailed project briefs and status updates.
  • Own and drive network design, structured cabling, fiber, passive devices, connectors
  • Monitor the project design delivery process and oversee the Datacenter Design team.
  • Develop design framework including standardized tools, techniques, and processes to ensure clarity and consistency across all projects.
  • Oversee the creation and refinement of design documentation
  • Ensure designs align with standards and meet project goals for functionality and performance.
  • Drive innovation in design to enhance sustainability and speed-to-market.
  1. Project Oversight
  • Measure, analyze, track and report business, process, and quality metrics to achieve targets while analyzing trends and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Lead a team in executing test fits, development planning, and design milestones, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
  • Direct the implementation of effective design change management processes, ensuring alignment with reference designs and Oracle standards.
  • Conduct design reviews and lead value engineering exercises to optimize cost and performance.
  • Monitor project milestones to ensure timely delivery of design deliverables.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement
  • Ensure internal and external customer satisfaction and exceed customer's expectations on each project.
  • Present design concepts and progress updates to stakeholders, incorporating feedback into project execution.
  1. Innovation and Quality
  • Use technical judgment to drive new project evaluations, technology reviews, challenge proposals and build consensus.
  • Stay updated on advancements in data center design and incorporate emerging technologies into projects.
  • Conduct and maintain ongoing and post-project reviews to document lessons learned and share insights across the program.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure facilities meet design intent and quality expectations.

  • Enable a culture of knowledge across functions: Provide regular updates on selected relevant knowledge, market intelligence, relevant news, academia, and other relevant entities.
  • Facilitate the spread of knowledge across functions: Define communication formats and channels that allow for easy consumption anywhere, anytime.
  • Foster and maintain strong/positive relationships across other groups and teams within Oracle. Stay abreast of the latest innovations in IaaS cloud computing.
  • Lead by example, setting a clear culture of teamwork, high expectations, success, and customer first focus.
  • Manage and coach a team of leaders, helping them grow their skills and maximize their impact. Coach and lead the team to create user experiences that deliver remarkable products.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $169,800 to $355,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
