Global Head of Credit Trading Technology - Fixed Income Technology Division
Job Context
The Global Spread Products (GSP) business engages in Sales, Trading, Structuring and Financing across the Credit, Securitized, and Municipal markets. This business is a market-leading franchise, and is committed to maintaining its leadership position by investing in next generation technology platforms that deliver competitive advantage to the business. The business operates globally with major operations across North America, Europe and Asia. This role is in the Technology group that supports this business globally.
Role Summary
The Head of Credit Trading Technology will lead the Front-office Technology team that builds and supports cutting-edge and robust technology solutions focused on the Credit trading division. This technology team builds solutions that allow trading desks to manage portfolios across a broad range of credit products - including Investment Grade, High Yield, Distressed Debt, Credit Default Swaps (CDS), and structured credit instruments - and perform spread analysis, credit risk modelling, and scenario analysis to hedge and risk-manage their positions.
The team, comprising seasoned technologists and business domain experts, works closely with traders, product development, risk managers, research analysts, and senior management to identify market opportunities and deliver solutions using Agile development principles. The primary goal of the team is to deliver solutions that give the business a sustainable competitive advantage. This role reports to the Global Head of Fixed Income Technology.
A primary task is to build on the broader Fixed Income technology strategy and transform our existing application architecture in the Credit Trading space. The candidate will need to build strong relationships with business leaders, industry peers, and the technology teams driving transformation and innovation. This role will ensure that our global organisation can meet the challenges of a rapidly changing financial services landscape, especially within the GSP businesses leading the adoption of AI tooling and modernizing the Risk and Pricing landscape for the traders.
The Ideal Candidate
Business Alignment & Strategy
  • Front Office Technology experience with Credit products, including cash credit (IG/HY/Distressed), credit derivatives (CDS, CLOs, CDX), and/or structured credit
  • Partner with Traders, Sales, and Product Development to identify technology priorities for the Credit business and deliver on them
  • Align Credit trading applications with the strategic Spread Products & Markets technology architecture and business priorities; balance tactical implementations with long-term strategy
  • Serve as a Credit Trading Subject Matter Expert for the broader GSP technology organisation, and help represent credit business priorities in larger Fixed Income and Markets -wide technology initiatives

Cross-Functional & Horizontal Collaboration
  • Work closely with peers leading horizontal technology functions - including FI eTrading and Algo, FI Risk Technology, and FI Trade Processing - to co-design and deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions that meet the specific needs of the Credit business
  • Leverage a global development team to develop and maintain technology platforms and serve global clients

Delivery & Engineering
  • Identify problems, analyse information, and make evaluative judgements to recommend and implement solutions
  • Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents
  • Manage a suite of technology applications and all SDLC processes associated with running those applications; adopt and help incorporate Citi's Engineering Excellence principles to improve platform and SDLC capabilities
  • Balance risk and controls with overall new feature delivery to ensure new iterations of technology platforms are more stable and reliable
  • Optimise organisational efforts to increase productivity and deliver efficiency through innovation, process improvement, and simplification of the technology stack
  • Deliver against regulatory priorities in line with broader business objectives and work with other key IT and business stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery

  • Provide leadership to the various functional teams within this remit so that they effectively handle ongoing and strategic activities
  • Staff/Resource Management and people skills, as well as technical problem-solving skills to navigate issues

Qualifications
  • 10+ years' experience in the design and development of front office trading, risk, or portfolio management software systems
  • Front Office Technology background in Credit markets strongly preferred
  • Strong Java or C# experience
  • Demonstratable experience with AI tooling and/or implementations
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
