Position Overview:

As a Content Enrichment Specialist at Galen College of Nursing, you will focus on retention of at-risk students by providing structured academic support and resources. Responsibilities include providing timely, effective interventions to augment and support the academic success of at-risk students. This position will have concentrated efforts in improving student success and retention. In addition, the Content Enrichment Specialist will collaborate with system academic leadership and faculty to promote the use of resources available for student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provides direct academic support, including group and one-on-one enrichment, for at-risk students. 
  2. Plans and provides services based on assessment methods at the course level including course examinations, nationally-normed exam results, and other assignments; collaborates with faculty to develop interventions to improve student success, as needed. 
  3. Participates in the analysis of reports, including at-risk data, to identify academic issues affecting student progression and assists to develop, implement, and evaluate pro-active plans to address concerns. 
  4. Collaborates, plans, and facilitates enrichment at the course level and preparation of students for nationally normed exams through use of the supplemental learning opportunities including the identification of student strengths and areas requiring improvement. 
  5. Collaborates, plans, and executes with faculty to develop interventions and enrichment resources based on assessment data. 
  6. Provides study coaching for Nursing and Arts & Sciences course content.
  7. Educates students on how to develop general and NCLEX-style test-taking skills, study skills, and time-management skills through coaching and enrichment activities designed to improve student retention. 
  8. Monitors retention data; identifies student withdrawal trends; discusses findings, makes recommendations, and develops interventions for students with the student affairs department,faculty, and campus academic leadership. 
  9. Maintains documentation of all student interactions in Student Information System (SIS). 
  10. Recommends and executes strategies to improve student success at the student and cohort-level. 
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum of a master’s degree with a major in nursing or another related field. 
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience required
  • Special Qualifications: Ability to assist students with a variety of content including, but not limited to, Anatomy & Physiology, Nursing, and basic mathematics.
  • Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Must be able to sit at a desk for up to eight (8) hours a day. 
  • Degree of Supervision: Dependent upon experience.
  • Travel: Some travel may be required
