OnPath is looking for a Consumer Loan Underwriter to join our team. The salary range for this position is $22.80 to $28.50 per hour based on skills and experience. This position is classified as Remote.

As a dedicated member of the OnPath FCU team, this role performs a variety of tasks that in partnership with the surrounding departments, provides cost effective financial services for the benefit of our members who are our primary focus. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

This position is responsible for underwriting all consumer (non-mortgage) loan products following underwriting guidelines, loan policy and regulatory compliance. This critical team member reviews consumer loan requests, evaluates loan structures, determines appropriateness of allowing underwriting guideline exceptions or overrides, and provides member centric credit solutions while managing credit risk. Credit decisions are made within individual lending authority or by endorsing approvals for decisions that require supervisor approval. This position will also work with loan operations teams to ensure a seamless, end-to-end process from application to booking.

Loan Underwriting:

Monitor application system(s) for receipt of new credit applications and determine appropriate prioritization.

* Work with internal and external parties to determine appropriate loan products to match loan applicant's financing needs and repayment sources and timing.

* Review all application documentation (income, debt and collateral documentation) and determine if additional documentation is required in order to underwrite the application. Verify completeness of application packet or mark incomplete accordingly.

* Formulate credit decision (approve, decline or counteroffer) in compliance with individual lending authority, established underwriting guidelines, compliance and regulatory requirements.

* Obtain proper approval for loan and communicate credit decision to member facing parties. If necessary with counter-offers and declines or other credit opportunities, identify potential new lending opportunities and suggest solutions.

* Responsible for ensuring that consumer loans are policy compliant and that exceptions or overrides are properly approved, documented and tracked.

* Adhere to service level agreements.

* Work with Loan Operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of loan packages and funding of loans.

* Answer credit questions and resolve problems raised by internal and external parties.

* Assist other lending teams as needed based on expertise.

Consumer Lending Development:

* Work with management to develop and implement new consumer loan products and promotions.

* Provide input in lending business plans relative to consumer lending and membership needs.

* Support the development of strategies and product promotions to meet annual growth targets.

* Review competitor offerings relative to credit union product offerings.

Training and compliance:

* Understand and adhere to compliance requirements.

* Successfully complete all required training and compliance courses.

* Respond to directed audit, exam or compliance findings.

* Attend regular lending meetings as necessary to keep teams updated on product changes and promotions.

Portfolio Management

* Work with Management to establish and review requirements for credit scoring standards.

* Recommend changes to credit scoring parameters as necessary.

* Work with service vendors on system problems and solutions.

* Participate in the selection and implementation of any system related software.

Experience

Two to five years of similar or related experience.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

A two-year degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and regularly lifting of up to 10 lbs. and up to 30 lbs on occasion. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
