Forest Conservation Worker, River Wildlife
Work Mode: Onsite
Location:Kohler, WI
Opportunity
The Forest Conservation Workersensure that forests are healthy, productive, and sustainable for futuregenerations. Forest Conservation Worker helps maintain and enhance our forests, prairies, trails, recreational properties, and guest experience areas. This position combines land stewardship, habitat management, outdoor recreation support, and property maintenance across River Wildlife and related properties. The role also supports River Wildlife's upland bird hunting and pheasant hunting operations. This is a guest-facing position that requires flexibility, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak hunting and recreation seasons.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Maintain trails and roads throughout Kohler.
  • Maintain areas around River Wildlife Lodge and select cabins.
  • Snow removal as directed.
  • Respond to forest emergencies, such as wildfires, floods, or landslides.
  • Plant seedlings to restore forested areas and prevent erosion.
  • Clear brush, debris, and invasive species from trails, roadsides, and other areas.
  • Count and measure trees and selecting trees for harvesting or removal based on size, type, or grade.
  • Assist with surveys to assess forest health, tree growth, and other ecological factors.
  • Operate equipment as intended and safely.
  • Assist with structures to control water, erosion, and soil leaching.
  • Assist with measures to protect sensitive habitats and ensure the sustainability of forest ecosystems.
  • Maintain landscapes around River Wildlife Property
  • Assist Management as deemed necessary
  • Responsible for monitoring River Wildlife lands to maintain exclusive and proper use by members.

This is a part-time position. Hours vary between 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Skills/Requirements
  • A high school diploma is the minimum educational requirement.
  • Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Desire to work in forest ecology, wildlife management, resource conservation, forest management technology or related field preferred.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
The hourly range for this position is $17.50 - $19.50 The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including candidate's education and work location.
