Job description

This position requires the individual to be onsite Monday through Thursday at our Rosemont, IL U.S. Home Office, with the option to work from home on Fridays subject to manager approval.

The Director, Communications is a strategic thought leader and advisor to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), responsible for advancing the priorities and objectives of the business and shaping the narratives that reach key audiences — our employees, our customer, our partners, our communities, and the broader industry. This leader sets the MB US communications strategy and drives the execution that delivers it.

This role works in close partnership with the US Senior Leadership Team, functional leadership teams, and the MB Corporate Communications and Reyes Holdings Communications teams, driving alignment and consistency, and translating global and enterprise content into a meaningful US voice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the US SLT and corporate functions (HR, IT, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Strategy) to develop and execute strategies that connect the workforce and align messages to drive results and business objectives.
  • Act as strategic communications advisor to the US SLT - translating priorities into internal and external communications plans that can be executed across the organization and to customers.
  • Own the full MB US communications channel portfolio - internal (intranet, employee app, email/newsletters, etc.) and external (US website, LinkedIn, and industry engagement) strategy and content standards across each.
  • Define communications strategy, standards, and governance.
  • Manage the annual MB US communications editorial calendar, aligning content, campaigns, and events to business priorities and MB Corporate calendar.
  • Own communications budget and manage external vendors.
  • Own the communications analytics function - defining KPIs, building reporting dashboards, tracking channel performance and audience engagement across all internal and external channels, and translating data into actionable recommendations for the SLT and communications roadmap.
  • Upskill functional leaders to deliver clear, compelling, and impactful narratives.
  • Build and scale team capabilities, tools, and playbooks.
  • Lead the department’s AI strategy - identifying, piloting, and scaling AI tools and platforms that create efficiencies in content creation, channel management, analytics, and audience targeting.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 10+ years of communications experience, with 5+ years of management experience.
  • Experience across digital, internal, and external communication channels.
  • High-energy, high-integrity leader who can quickly take control of responsibilities and establish credibility as a strategic business partner.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and scale a communications team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex stakeholder groups simultaneously, navigating competing priorities, building alignment across functions, and operating effectively in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, impactful messaging.
  • Creative problem-solving and audience-focused communication.
  • Data fluency — ability to build and interpret communications analytics across both internal and external channels.
  • Familiarity with AI-powered communications tools and demonstrated ability to evaluate and adopt new technology.
