V2X is seeking a talented Senior Cybersecurity Infrastructure Engineer III to join our Cybersecurity Engineering Team supporting the COBRA DANE radar program on Shemya Island, Alaska. Reporting to the Program Protection Lead (PPL) in Colorado Springs and operating under daily on-site direction from Site Leads, you will serve as the designated site Information System Security Officer (ISSO). In this role, you will lead multi-functional System, Network, and Cyber Engineering tasks to ensure total compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Air Force (DAF) directives.
Remote Operations & Schedule
Due to the unique, remote geographical location on Shemya Island, this position requires a demanding deployment rotation.
  • Work Schedule: Employees typically work 11hours a day, 7 days a week, but are not limited to this schedule.
  • Rotation & R&R: Employees will be on a consistent rotational on-island schedule, followed by uncompensated rest and relaxation (R&R) off-island.

Responsibilities
  • System Administration in support of local unclassified and classified information system enclaves consisting of information technology devices across four domains (Physical/Virtual Servers, Workstations/Thin clients, Enterprise network infrastructure, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary on-site ISSO for the facility; review and recommend changes to system policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Maintain, patch, and repair legacy Operating Systems (Solaris), Windows, and Linux servers/workstations in physical, standalone, LAN/WAN, and virtualized/hyperconverged environments.
  • Establish and maintain directory services (Windows/Linux) with secure configurations.
  • Configure and troubleshoot copper cabling and single-mode/multi-mode fiber connectivity.
  • Review and recommend changes to Risk Management Framework (RMF) Security Authorization Package (SAP) documentation.
  • Verify system hardening to ensure the most current Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)/Security Requirements Guides (SRG) are complete.
  • Monitor, record, and transmit comprehensive system logs and trouble reports for accuracy and timely submission.
  • Manage routine preventive maintenance, track disk space, and adjust environmental controls in electronic operations areas.
  • Obtain Operator Certification within six months to perform duties as an Intelligence Operations Center (IOC) Operator during breaks or personnel shortages (training provided on-site).
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and site personnel to facilitate regularly scheduled Radar System Maintenance.
  • Maintain, inventory, and manage secure storage containers for COMSEC materials (Secret, Secure Voice, and associated Cryptographic equipment).
  • Sanitize and destroy magnetic media, Solid-State Drives (SSD), and optical media using on-site degaussers and shredders in accordance with DoD and DAF standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Site Leads.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
  • Education & Experience Tiers:
    - Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Cybersecurity, IT, Computer Science) + 8 years of relevant experience; OR
    - Associate's degree in a technical field + 10 years of relevant experience; OR
    - 12+ years of direct, relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • DoD Certification: Must meet DoD 8140 (formerly 8570) qualification requirements for a System Administrator (DCWF Code 451) at the Intermediate level (e.g., active CompTIA Security+, SSCP, GSEC, or qualifying higher-education degree).
  • Systems-Focused Networking: Solid working knowledge and hands-on experience supporting enterprise network environments (LAN/WAN), including basic configuration and troubleshooting of switches, routers, and connectivity. (You do not need to be a dedicated Network Engineer, but you must be comfortable managing network operations alongside system administration).
  • OS & Virtualization: Hardening knowledge of Windows, Linux, legacy Solaris, and hypervisors. Experience managing enterprise virtualization environments (VMware vSphere ESXi, Nutanix clusters). Experience establishing Windows/Linux directory services and Active Directory in secure configurations.
  • Professionalism & Independence: Professional demeanor with a demonstrated ability to act independently, prioritize tasks, and manage schedules in a high-paced, multi-tasked environment.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively in both oral and written modes.

Physical Requirements
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. individually, and team-lift heavier enterprise equipment (such as physical servers and switches) into standard server racks.
  • Mobility & Dexterity: Ability to climb ladders, work in tight spaces (such as cable closets or under flooring), and configure/route physical copper and fiber cabling infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired)
  • Network Infrastructure Security: Experience with advanced network device configuration adjustments and infrastructure security hardening.
  • Security Toolsets: Experience with anti-virus, HIDS/NIDS, and centralized SIEM/log analysis applications.
  • Compliance Frameworks: Experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) and RMF packages.
  • Vulnerability Assessment: Vulnerability testing expertise using Nessus, ACAS, and SCAP tools.
  • Industrial Systems: Experience or exposure to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming and HMI software.
