Job description

Cold-Formed Steel Engineer

Job Summary:

Our office in Lakewood, CO is looking for a Cold-Formed Steel Engineer to design cold-formed steel systems for commercial building projects, and to grow our existing dynamic team. We specialize in CFS design for building enclosures, interior walls and ceilings, shaft walls, structural framing, and bearing wall structures including advanced technology solutions for prefabrication, panelization, modular construction and BIM/VDC services. Our design professionals support projects all over the US and Canada and integrate with multi-discipline engineering teams on a wide array of projects. This is an opportunity to engage with an energetic team and learn from professionals with many years of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Full life-cycle project design from kick-off to construction document production and construction oversight
  • Join and lead project teams in our Building Design and Non-building structures studios
  • Responsible for producing engineering documents such as reports, calculations, and drawings that are complete and technically accurate
  • Responsible for assisting clients regarding technical design issues, coordination of document preparation, and submittals
  • Utilize design software such as CFS, RISA, Enercalc, RAM, Bluebeam, and REVIT to produce construction drawings

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ABET accredited bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Registered EIT
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in cold-formed steel engineering with commercial building focus
  • Experience in projects of similar breadth and depth of structural engineering services offered by Salas O’Brien
  • The desire to work towards the Company's goal of excellent and timely service.
  • Experience in the design of concrete, masonry, steel, and foundations is required. Experience in the following is a plus:
    • Registered Professional Engineer
    • Cold-formed Steel
    • Seismic design categories D, E and F
    • Extreme wind loading
    • Blast-resistant structures
  • Strong time management skills and self-starter a must
  • Ability to learn from, and work with other team members

Location: Lakewood, CO (Denver)

Travel: Up to 10%

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $92,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
