As a Director of Cloud Engineering, you blend deep cloud technical experience with a passion for agile product delivery. This position involves managing a team of developers whose job is to build platforms and composite solutions in support of Fidelity Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology's cloud transformation. This position involves working on an exceptionally talented team whose job is to build cloud native application platforms and solutions in support of Fidelity's cloud journey. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in cloud technologies, product development, and experience leading technical teams in an agile fashion. They will be able to navigate and manage technical complexities while developing secure and scalable solutions for our customers.

The Team

The Shared Services Engineering organization is responsible for enabling Fidelity Brokerage Recordkeeping Technology to accelerate the delivery of value to Fidelity's customers by providing cloud native composite solutions, platforms, frameworks, and security capabilities. You will be a key member of the Shared Services Engineering team who is responsible for building application platforms, composite API's, tools and frameworks to advance the organization's ability to leverage the public cloud for solving business problems.

The Expertise You Have

  • Bachelor's or master's degree with 12 plus years of knowledge and experience working in software and cloud infrastructure engineering with various technology platforms.

  • Experience managing business priorities and understanding how to make tradeoffs when considering pace over perfection.

  • Strong Java backend API development & public cloud understanding with AWS.

  • Experience directing technical teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.

  • Assist VP of Engineering in developing and implementing a multi-year technology strategy for BRT Application Solutions aligned with enterprise priorities.

  • Lead modernization of components of the Application Platforms, Gateways and Composite Solutions from legacy mainframe systems to cloud native architectures.

  • Leading, influencing, and motivating a team of engineers focused on Cloud Migrations, API Platforms, and other business critical service interface development.

  • Supporting large scale, mission critical applications that cannot afford any downtime.

  • Solid leadership skills with the ability to recruit and develop new technical talent.

  • Expert in building containerized applications using Java Spring Boot and Micronaut.

  • Experience with Java, Python, Golang, Node JS, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure Code, Helm, Terraform.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience managing products delivered to technical teams.

  • Preferred experience in retail financial markets or another highly regulated industry.

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
