Hanwha Aerospace’s Aero Business Group has operations in the USA, Vietnam and South Korea. The Aero Business Group delivers to OEM and Tier 1 customers the most complex machined, fabricated and assembled product and modules for use in engine and other aerospace applications.

Hanwha Aerospace USA(HAU) has long been recognized as a leader in the development and supply of flight critical Aerospace/Defense components and assemblies. Operating out of four state-of-the-art facilities located in Connecticut.



Position Overview

Hanwha Aerospace is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Director to drive strategic growth within the Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) and power generation market in the US. This role is critical in driving growth within these strategic sectors, developing key relationships with long-term customer partnerships such as OEMs, utilities, IPPs, and turbine service providers and business development process from identification of opportunities to contract finalization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the commercial engine markets, with a proven ability to secure new business and foster long-term partnerships.



Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities.
  • Lead strategic account planning, opportunity pipeline management, bid/pricing strategy, and booking forecasts.
  • Generate leads through networking and cold-calling prospective clients.
  • Lead the proposal development process including the preparation of bid and negotiation for new contracts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and develop customer solutions.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute strategic plans for business growth with the Industrial Gas Turbine and Energy sector.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs and competitor activities to drive long-term initiatives.
  • Forecast revenue, identify risks and opportunities, and develop strategic plans to meet financial targets.

Customer Advocacy

  • Serve as a customer advocate ensuring customer feedback is captured.
  • Maintain strong, ongoing communication with customers to foster long-term relationships.

Program Management (support)

  • Oversee key engine programs from start to finish ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead commercial leadership and transition awarded program to Program Management after contract award.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with internal departments including engineering, finance, operations and legal to develop comprehensive proposals and ensure alignment with contractual terms.
  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities, program status and market conditions for senior management.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and trade shows to promote our capabilities.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of business development or program management in the aerospace industry or Industrial Gas Turbine industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex aerospace or IGT programs and securing new business.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace or IGT manufacturing processes, products and industry regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with OEMs in both aerospace and IGT.
  • Familiarity with contract management and legal aspects of aerospace or IGT agreements.
  • Strong technical understanding of aerospace or IGT engines, systems and components.
