Job Description
As Director Engineering - User Experience (UX) here at Honeywell, you will lead the transformation of UX across Honeywell Building Automation's global portfolio of digital and physical solutions.
You will redefine how users interact with complex systems spanning software, hardware, and real-world workflows, shifting UX from interface design to a research-driven, outcome-focused discipline that directly shapes product strategy and customer value. This role is crucial in enhancing the capability and effectiveness of the UX team by driving the upskilling of Gen AI and UX for AI/ML capabilities, advocating for end-user co-creation and fostering an innovative and user-centered design environment.
You will report to the Chief Technology Officer, Building Automation and work out of our Atlanta, GA location on a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead UX Transformation
  • Redefine UX from execution to strategic, research-led leadership
  • Drive adoption of new capabilities, including AI-enabled design and workflow optimization
  • Establish UX as a core driver of product and business strategy

Champion Research & Behavioral Science
  • Build and scale a UX research-driven organization
  • Apply principles from behavioral science, psychology, or human-computer interaction
  • Move beyond UI design to deeply understand how users think, behave, and interact with systems

Design End-to-End Experiences
  • Own UX across digital platforms and applications, hardware-enabled systems, and real-world operational workflows
  • Ensure experiences are intuitive across the entire customer journey, not just interfaces

Partner Cross-Functionally in Matrixed Environment
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as product/offering management and software and hardware engineering, for early engagement in customer discovery, ideation, and workflow and solution design

Build Data-Driven UX
  • Define and implement metrics to track user behavior and experience
  • Use insights to drive continuous product improvement
  • Create feedback loops that inform future releases and roadmap decisions

Lead & Evolve a Global UX Organization
  • Assess and evolve a globally distributed UX team
  • Shape team structure, capabilities, and skills for future needs
  • Lead in a complex, matrixed enterprise environment

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • 7+ years of experience leading user research and/or experience design leveraging foundational behavioral science and psychology
  • Proven experience leading digital or UX transformation initiatives in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to operate across software and real-world operational systems

WE VALUE
  • Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in degree in Behavioral Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, User Experience Design, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of customer journeys, workflows, and systems thinking
  • Experience in platform-based ecosystems (e.g., cloud, enterprise SaaS, industrial tech)
  • Exposure to AI/ML-enabled products or design workflows
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder influence skills
  • Experience building or scaling UX functions within complex organizations
