YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Senior Platform Engineer opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. This role is responsible for engineering, automating, securing, and operating enterprise platform services across Azure and hybrid infrastructure environments. The Senior Platform Engineer serves as both a technical expert and technical leader, helping develop the capabilities of the Platform Engineering team through mentoring, coaching, knowledge sharing, and leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works independently and formulates actionable plans to solve complex technical and security challenges.
  • Provides technical leadership for Azure, identity, virtualization, automation, monitoring, and platform services.
  • Designs, deploys, and supports Azure platform services,cloud infrastructure, and virtual infrastructure (Nutanix and VMWare).
  • Develops andmaintainsInfrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Bicep andautomationplatforms.
  • Manages secure and reliablecompute, storage,backup, virtualization, cloud, and disaster recovery.
  • Maintains and improves Azure Infrastructure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra services.
  • Leads cloud modernization, datacenter migration, and platform transformation initiatives.
  • Seeks opportunities to automate, simplify, standardize, and improve operational processes.
  • Participates in architecture reviews and strategic technology planning.
  • Maintains documentation, standards, operational procedures, and engineering runbooks.
  • Leads troubleshooting efforts for major incidents and complex technical escalations.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and leads key projects and operational functions.
  • Actively coaches, mentors, and develops Platform Engineers through structured knowledge transfer and hands-on guidance.
  • Drives cross-training efforts to reduce operational risk and single points of failure.
  • Assists Platform Engineering leadership inidentifyingskills gaps and developing team capabilities.
  • Promotes engineering excellence, accountability, documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Works with leadership to develop strategic direction and long-term platform roadmaps.

Requirements

  • 7+years of infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or related experience.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and Azure.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms including Nutanix and/or VMware.
  • Experience with disaster recovery, backup, resiliency, and platform operations.
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code, automation, and scripting solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science or information systems
  • Solid scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Batch)
  • Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wireshark)
  • Background leveraging enterprise storage systems (SAN, Pure, Nimble, Netapp, HCI, object oriented, replication, iSCSI, etc.)
  • Disaster recovery planning and testing
  • Solid Cloud experience with high availability implementations (Azure preferred)
  • Infrastructure automation and/or code (Ansible, Bicep, VSCode)
  • One or more of the following certifications: MCSE,M365 Certified Enterprise Administrator Expert (M365CEAE), Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (MCADEE), AWS Solutions Architect Professional, VCP-CMA, VCAP-DCV
