This individual will be responsible for building a program culture that translates to success both on the pitch and in the classroom.

Timeline & Terms of Leadership

  • Competition Season (August – October): Direct all daily varsity practices, conditioning, strategy sessions, and match play. Lead the team through regular season conference matches and IHSAA state tournament series.
  • Spring & Summer Out-of-Season Development: Organize and facilitate open fields, weight training, and summer conditioning programs in strict compliance with IHSAA limited contact and summer participation rules.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute structured, high-tempo practice plans that build individual technical skills and cohesive team tactics.

  • Overhaul and run the out-of-season training program (spring/summer open fields and weight room blocks) to maximize player fitness and touch before August.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all rules and regulations set forth by the IHSAA, the Monon Athletic Conference, and Southmont High School.
  • Oversee the inventory, care, and management of team equipment, uniforms, and practice gear.
  • Partner with the Athletic Department to coordinate match scheduling, transportation, and youth soccer community outreach programs.
  • Enforce student-athlete academic eligibility requirements, ensuring players place a premium on their classroom performance.
  • Act as a positive mentor and role model; build a program culture that values discipline, accountability, teamwork, and pride in wearing the Mountie uniform.
  • Maintain proactive, clear communication with parents, players, and the athletic administration regarding schedules, expectations, and team goals.
