In Aruba, demand is high for roles in the energy and refining sectors, including positions like refinery engineers, maintenance technicians, and safety specialists. Skills in process management, safety protocols, and technical certifications are often required for these roles, which are essential to the island's petroleum industry.

How hard is it to get a job at a refinery?

The Aruba refinery was owned by Valero Energy Corporation until it was sold to the Caribbean Petroleum Corporation in 2019. Ownership details can change, so it is advisable to verify the current owner through recent industry reports or official company statements.

Why did Aruba refinery close?

The Aruba refinery closed due to economic challenges, including declining oil prices and reduced demand for refined products, which made operations financially unsustainable. The decision was also influenced by environmental regulations and shifts toward renewable energy sources, leading to the shutdown of the facility and the loss of jobs for those working as refinery operators or in related roles.
