Primary Purpose
The Director of Allied Health provides strategic leadership, administration, and oversight for Workforce Continuing Education Allied Health programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, workforce-focused education that meets the needs of students, employers, and the community. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of short-term allied health education and training programs; provides instructional leadership, supervision, and support for faculty and staff; and ensures compliance with applicable accreditation, regulatory, and North Carolina Community College System requirements. The position fosters a culture of excellence in teaching, learning, and student success while developing collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers, business and industry, community organizations, and other stakeholders to advance workforce development and support the College's mission, strategic priorities, and institutional goals.
Position Duties
• Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for Workforce Continuing Education Allied Health instructional programs, faculty, adjunct instructors, and support staff to ensure high-quality instruction and student success.
• Plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve Workforce Continuing Education Allied Health programs to meet workforce demands, community needs, and College strategic priorities.
• Ensure all Allied Health programs maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, North Carolina Community College System, accrediting, licensing, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Assess workforce trends, employer needs, labor market data, and community interests to develop, revise, expand, or discontinue courses and programs as appropriate.
• Develop and manage the Allied Health course schedule, including determining the number, type, location, modality, and frequency of course offerings each term.
• Recruit, interview, recommend for hire, orient, mentor, supervise, evaluate, and support qualified instructional personnel while promoting instructional excellence and professional development.
• Provide oversight of instructor credentials, competency documentation, student enrollment, attendance, assessments, course records, and other required instructional and regulatory documentation.
• Develop, monitor, and administer program budgets; oversee the procurement, inventory, maintenance, and replacement of instructional equipment, supplies, and materials.
• Teach Workforce Continuing Education Allied Health courses as needed to support program operations, instructional continuity, and specialized training initiatives.
• Develop and implement innovative instructional methods, curriculum enhancements, and alternative delivery formats that improve student learning, access, and workforce readiness.
• Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers, clinical agencies, employers, workforce development organizations, secondary schools, and community partners to support program growth, clinical placements, and employment opportunities.
• Conduct regular classroom observations, instructor evaluations, and visits to clinical education sites to ensure instructional quality, regulatory compliance, and student success. • Analyze program outcomes and performance data to support continuous quality improvement, credential attainment, enrollment growth, retention, and employment outcomes. • Serve on College committees, advisory boards, professional organizations, and community partnerships to represent Workforce Continuing Education Allied Health programs and advance institutional initiatives.
• Participate in administrative meetings, strategic planning, professional development, accreditation activities, and other College functions.
• Work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support classes, special events, community outreach, and program operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services & Community Engagement or other College administrator
Position Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in an Allied Health related field with two years of experience working with adults in education or similar environments.
• 3 years supervisory experience
• Ability to leverage technology in the delivery of instruction
• Demonstrated proficiency in Google and Microsoft applications including Excel; strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
