About the location:
Located on the southeastern coast of the pristine island of Lāna'i, lies the secluded retreat of Four Seasons Resort Lāna'i, an oceanfront destination offering travelers a curated, personalized island escape. The five-star, five-diamond Resort offers outdoor restaurants, including Nobu Lāna'i, a kid's club, Tennis Garden, cultural programming, beach and pool with spacious seating areas nestled among tropical gardens, Hawanawana spa and luxury retail boutiques. Built on lava outcroppings, the award-winning Jack Nicklaus-signature golf course features ocean views on every hole. Island activities, many managed by Four Seasons include sunset sails and whale watch tours, horseback riding, sporting clays and archery, biking, hiking, and aerial adventures at Lanai Adventure Park or learn about Hawaiian wayfinding at the on-site observatory.
PGA LEAD GOLF INSTRUCTOR
The Four Seasons Resort Lāna'i is looking for a PGA Lead Golf Instructor who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do. Our teams' have the opportunity to shape our guest experience by providing exceptional knowledge of the Resort and exemplifying the Golden Rule in each interaction. Work authorization required.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The PGA Lead Golf Instructor will play a key role in golf operations, including responsibilities within the Golf Shop, Guest Services, and related areas. This position is accountable for planning, organizing, promoting, scheduling, and delivering golf instructional programs tailored to meet customer needs and expectations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Collaborate with the Director of Golf, Head Professional, Golf Course Superintendent, and Golf Professional team to support overall golf operations.

  • Oversee and maintain golf teaching facilities to ensure exceptional service standards.

  • Ensure the quality and effectiveness of all instructional programs.

  • Develop and implement promotional initiatives to increase participation in instructional programs.

  • Maximize revenue from golf instruction through strategic program management and customer engagement.

  • Act as a role model for all Associates by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all golf course employees

  • Be responsible for the development of an annual business plan and budget for the Manele Golf Instruction Program

  • Provide feedback and explanation(s) regarding the financial performance of the Manele Golf Instruction Program on a regular basis

Golf Instruction
  • Co-ordinate the golf instruction and player development programming

  • Train golf professionals on golf instruction, teaching philosophies and the operations of programs to include clinics, schools, juniors, group, private lessons, player development, and special population lessons.

  • Utilize state-of-the-art teaching and learning theories and be able to integrate the use of teaching aids, videotape, launch monitors, etc. when appropriate in all programs.

  • Monitor information requests regarding or pertaining to schedule of lessons and instructional golf.

  • Supervise the upkeep of the teaching golf range and facilities to ensure that safe, clean, organized and professional conditions exist at all times.

  • Maintain teaching aids and equipment inventory in excellent condition.

  • Create additional opportunities to increase top-line revenue

  • Develop a Culture utilizing the most up to date golf instruction philosophies and techniques

  • Attend meetings as requested by the management team; i.e., Resort Manager, Director of Golf, Head Professional

  • Represent the facility in community service to create a positive relationship with media (TV-radio-newspapers) and local business.

  • Will teach/Instruction 3 days a week

Group Play/ Daily Ops
  • Lead or assist in execution of all golf outings, tournaments and FAM events.

  • Assist the Head Professional and 1st Assistant Golf Professional as needed in all areas and duties assigned.

  • Will have duties in the operation 2-3 days a week and as needed.

Creative Ability
  • Create instructional programs to enhance service and maintain interest and enthusiasm among all customer segments

  • Assist in marketing and promotion for instruction programming

  • Create player development programs (Player Development defined as increase activity) to foster a recreational, fun and, where appropriate, a competitive environment.

Relationships
  • Maintain regular, open contact with both supervisors and staff to ensure teamwork and consistency in teaching programs.

  • Exhibit a warm, welcoming personality that will make staff and customers feel comfortable

Education
  • Maintain professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities in golf training, player development

  • Encourage staff instructors to engage in learning opportunities to maintain professional expertise and provide resources to meet those objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Traits
  • Maintain PGA of America membership in good standing and mentor apprentices through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program

  • Have an expert level of knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf instruction, and teaching methodology

  • Have knowledge and experience using TRACKMAN

WHAT TO BRING
  • Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in United States

  • Required by the Hawaii State Department of Health to obtain a Tuberculous (TB) clearance card

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and push/pull as needed during shifts.

  • Weekend and Holiday availability required.

  • Registered in the PGA Apprentice Program in good standing.

  • Valid Driver's License
