Responsibilities

What You'll Do as a Tree and Vegetation Specialist:ย 

As a Tree and Vegetation Specialist, you will support Lewis Tree Service's utility vegetation management operations - including tree trimming, ground support, and herbicide and pesticide treatments - toย maintainย clearance along utility rights-of-way and ensure reliable service for our customers.ย 

  • Ground-level and aloft tree pruning, felling, and vegetation removal toย maintainย clearance around power lines and equipment (climbing or aerial lift work under supervision and training)ย 
  • Clear vegetation and debris from job sites - lift logs, drag brush, and similar tasksย 
  • Operate chainsaws, chippers, blowers, pruners, and other hand and power tools; use handlines to lower limbs and equipmentย 
  • Assistย climbers by spotting from the ground, handing up tools, and using hand lines;ย assistย with rigging and felling of treesย 
  • Mix and apply herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals according to label directions and formulasย 
  • Operate spray equipment, including truck-mounted sprayers, backpack sprayers, boom sprayers, and handheld applicatorsย 
  • Identifyย target vegetation and selectย appropriate treatmentย methods and chemicalsย 
  • Monitor weather conditions, wind speed, and environmental factors to ensure safe and effective applicationย 
  • Calibrate spray equipment and adjust nozzles, pressure, and flow rates for proper coverageย 
  • Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on spray equipment and other toolsย 
  • Maintainย accurateย records of chemical applications, quantities used, and areas treated in compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsย 
  • Set up traffic control zones and direct traffic when neededย 
  • Support job site safety by spotting,ย assistingย climbers, and communicating hazards; safeguard colleagues and the public from hazards in and around the work areaย 
  • Communicate with property owners, customers, and the publicย regardingย vegetation management activitiesย 
  • Maintain clean, organized trucks and job sitesย 
  • Participate in safety briefings and follow all company safety protocolsย 
  • Drive andย operateย trucks and specialized equipment (certificationย required)ย 
  • Assistย with vegetation assessments and site surveys as neededย 
  • Travelย frequentlyย for work, including potential overnight stays, to different job sitesย 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state, local, and federal regulationsย 
Qualifications

What You Bring:ย 

  • Basic knowledge of tree species and arboriculture pruning techniquesย 
  • Ability to perform work at heights and use climbing gear or aerial liftsย 
  • Ability to obtain andย maintainย a state-issued pesticide or herbicide applicator licenseย 
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardshipย 
  • Ability to follow herbicide labels, application guidelines, and safety procedures accuratelyย 
  • Attention to detail when mixing, measuring, and applying chemicalsย 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a teamย 
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct on job sitesย 
  • Ability to read, write, and understand Englishย 
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred)ย 
  • CPR/First Aid certification (provided by Lewis)ย 
  • Herbicide applicator certification (or ability to complete andย maintain)ย

Como Especialista en Arboles y Vegetacion, apoyaras las operaciones de gestion de vegetacion para servicios publicos de Lewis Tree Service, incluyendo poda de arboles, apoyo en tierra y tratamientos con herbicidas y pesticidas, para mantener el despeje a lo largo de los derechos de paso de las empresas de servicios publicos y garantizar un servicio confiable para nuestros clientes.

  • Poda, tala y remocion de vegetacion tanto a nivel del suelo como en altura para mantener el despeje alrededor de lineas electricas y equipos (trabajos de escalada o con plataforma elevadora bajo supervision y capacitacion).
