What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Director Advanced Practice Remote, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Director Advanced Practice Remote, you need advanced clinical expertise, leadership experience in managing advanced practice providers (APPs), and typically a master's or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field with appropriate state licensure. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic medical records (EMRs), and healthcare compliance systems is essential. Outstanding communication, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate remote teams are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure effective oversight, high-quality patient care, and alignment with organizational goals in a virtual healthcare environment.

What is a Director Advanced Practice Remote?

A Director Advanced Practice Remote is a healthcare leader responsible for overseeing advanced practice providers (such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants) and their operations, but works remotely rather than on-site. This role involves managing teams, developing clinical protocols, ensuring compliance, and supporting professional development, all through virtual means. The Director collaborates with other healthcare administrators and clinicians to ensure quality patient care and efficient workflow, leveraging technology to stay connected with staff and operations. Remote directors use various digital tools to maintain communication, monitor performance, and implement best practices across dispersed teams.

How does a Director of Advanced Practice working remotely typically collaborate with clinical teams and ensure effective leadership across locations?

As a remote Director of Advanced Practice, you will regularly coordinate with advanced practice providers, physicians, and administrative staff through virtual meetings, secure messaging, and digital project management tools. Effective communication and proactive relationship-building are key, as you must oversee quality of care, compliance, and professional development across geographically dispersed teams. You will also lead initiatives to standardize clinical protocols and support staff, often conducting virtual training sessions and performance reviews. Staying organized and adaptable are essential to foster a cohesive and high-performing team environment despite the physical distance.

Role Overview

As a GI Expert Nurse Practitioner at Oshi Health, you'll deliver high-quality, virtual-first gastrointestinal care to adults with complex digestive conditions through our telemedicine platform. You'll work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team with dietitians, and behavioral health specialists to provide coordinated, whole-person care that helps patients achieve lasting digestive health improvements. This role is at the heart of our mission โ€” and your clinical expertise will directly change lives.

What You'll Do โ€” Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver virtual patient care in alignment with Oshi's evidence-based care model, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for GI conditions with a focus on DGBIs, GERD, and IBD via video visits and chat messaging

  • Participate in quality improvement, clinical program development, and professional training to stay current in the field of gastrointestinal care
  • Pursue cross-licensure opportunities and maintain good standing with all relevant licenses and certifications

  • Current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing
  • Current certification by ANCC, AANP, or other qualifying agency as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in gastroenterology specialty in an outpatient setting
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary care providers including physicians, psychologists, and registered dietitians

Preferred

  • Licensure in 2 additional states desired โ€” candidates must be willing and able to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Experience with or willingness to learn common administrative and clinical technologies (Zoom, Google Suite, Salesforce, Athena, or equivalent)
  • Prior experience with telehealth platforms
  • Comfort with and commitment to a consistent evening schedule (10AMโ€“6PM or 11AMโ€“7PM EST/CST)
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary Range: Competitive, commensurate with experience, with annual bonus eligibility
  • Health Benefits: 90% employee premiums paid for medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Time Off: 3 weeks paid PTO + 11 paid holidays + 1 floating holiday
  • Retirement: Eligibility to contribute to 401(k)
  • Work Style: Remote-first โ€” work from home anywhere in the US
  • Growth: Advanced training by GI-specialized clinicians and professional development support as we scale
  • Licensure: Cross-licensure support and reimbursement opportunities
  • Life Concierge: Dedicated personal support through Overalls
