Job Description: 
Job summary:
* Reports to the Technical Leader.
* Responsible for the lineside support projects and process improvement activities toward attainment of departmental and plant goals specifically supporting a production line. 
* Must be able to use data driven decisions to drive improvements and show effectiveness.
* Primary focus in areas of capacity expansion through existing process optimization, quality/waste improvement and cost improvement activities.
* Required to balance multiple assignments of varying scope and complexity interacting with several levels of cross-functional teams.

Essential functions:
* Responsible for the design and implementation of machine improvements.
* Assist Project engineers with design feedback and installation assistance for capital projects
* Proficient in mechanical design and troubleshooting.
* Familiar with and able to teach maintenance principles and techniques.
* Guides staff in troubleshooting and upkeep of cam driven equipment, that integrate pneumatic, servo and PLC driven equipment/sensors.
* Supports the plant manufacturing effort, with proven ability to identify problems and pursue plans toward their resolution in a FAST-PACED environment.
* Has knowledge of common Engineering industry practices, equipment repair and cultivating vendor relationships.
* Coordinates activities between equipment vendors, Division R & D, and plant functional departments.
* Manage multiple projects of small to large scope projects requiring extensive coordination to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives.
* Prepares and submits capital appropriation requests and controls expenditures for small scale improvements.
* Knowledgeable about established safety standards and collaborates with EHS staff to update and maintain a safe work environment.
* Helps facilitate and coordinate strategic PM activities that align with data driven troubleshooting.
* Recommends vendors for commercial items and materials needed for projects, cost savings, and reliability
* Determines which elements of a job are suitable for in-house fabrication or revision and which items should be contracted. Secures quotations and selects contractors, directing their efforts to satisfactory completion of the necessary work.
* Recommends and implements capital equipment or process modifications, including physical installation, debugging, and training of production personnel.
* Responsible for all associated documentation updates and implementation including: validations, Operations Procedures, Preventive Maintenance schedules, Engineering Change Notifications, and Bill of Materials.
* Develops a firm understanding of all equipment to include setup, adjustment, and assessment of possible improvements.
* Attains budgeted cost reductions and efficiency gains.
* Accountable for spending within approved limits on programs within the department.
* Help guide, mentor and develop technical staff to ensure continuous improvement
* MUST have the ability to modify, redesign, and create technical drawings of tooling and fixtures.
* Required to advanced capability ability to use Microsoft Suite products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc)
* Required to have experience and expertise in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc. Other CAD experience is acceptable but SolidWorks, AutoCAD preferred
* Must have the ability to present, convey content and garner understanding publicly to a nontechnical audience. (Example: Project report outs, Technical Trainings, Safety Stand downs, etc.)

Additional responsibilities:
* Performs other duties as required.
* Spend more than 70% of your time on the floor supporting troubleshooting, maintenance and improvement projects.
* Directs the efforts of support personnel in the modification, adjustment, removal, and installation of equipment.
* May provide functional supervision of other Engineers toward attainment of assignments.

Education:
* Preferred Bachelor's or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering. Will consider length of experience in lieu of Degree.
