How much do director acquisition integration jobs pay per year?
What are some common challenges faced in a director acquisition integration role, and how are they typically addressed?
One of the most common challenges in the Director Acquisition Integration role is aligning different company cultures and business processes during and after a merger or acquisition. Navigating data migration, overlapping systems, talent retention, and regulatory compliance requires thorough planning and strong stakeholder engagement. Successful professionals in this position often address these challenges by establishing clear integration frameworks, maintaining open lines of communication with both legacy and incoming teams, and proactively identifying potential roadblocks. The role involves a high degree of coordination with leadership, HR, IT, and legal teams to ensure a smooth transition and maintain business continuity. Regular progress reviews and flexibility in strategy are also critical to overcoming unforeseen difficulties and ensuring the integration delivers on its intended value.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the director acquisition integration position?
To thrive as a Director Acquisition Integration, you need deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), project management, financial analysis, and change management, typically supported by a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with M&A software, integration platforms, and tools like Excel, PowerPoint, and project management systems (e.g., Asana, Smartsheet) is vital, along with certifications like PMP or Six Sigma being advantageous. Exceptional leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills are crucial for guiding diverse teams through complex transitions. These abilities ensure seamless integration processes, mitigate risks, and maximize organizational value post-acquisition.
What does a director acquisition integration do?
A Director of Acquisition Integration oversees the strategic and operational aspects of merging acquired companies into the parent organization. They coordinate cross-functional teams, manage timelines, and ensure seamless alignment of processes, systems, and cultures. Their role involves minimizing disruptions, optimizing efficiencies, and achieving synergy targets post-acquisition. Job description
Huron helps its clients drive growth, enhance performance and sustain leadership in the markets they serve. We help healthcare organizations build innovation capabilities and accelerate key growth initiatives, enabling organizations to own the future, instead of being disrupted by it. Together, we empower clients to create sustainable growth, optimize internal processes and deliver better consumer outcomes.
Health systems, hospitals and medical clinics are under immense pressure to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of providing patient care. Investing in new partnerships, clinical services and technology is not enough to create meaningful and substantive change. To succeed long-term, healthcare organizations must empower leaders, clinicians, employees, affiliates and communities to build cultures that foster innovation to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
Joining the Huron team means you'll help our clients evolve and adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and optimize existing business operations, improve clinical outcomes, create a more consumer-centric healthcare experience, and drive physician, patient and employee engagement across the enterprise.
Join our team as the expert you are now and create your future.
In the M&A context, this leader owns end-to-end IT integration delivery, from due diligence and Day 1 readiness through post-close integration, TSA exit, and value realization. In the digital context, you will serve as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and senior IT leaders, guiding them through complex clinical, operational, and financial transformation initiatives powered by EHR, ERP, AI, automation, and advanced analytics.
You will foster a supportive, inclusive environment, empower teams, and create a workplace where diverse perspectives are valued. If you are passionate about driving impactful solutions at the intersection of M&A and digital transformation and believe in the power of collaboration, Huron offers a rewarding path forward.
Huron is seeking a Director / Senior Director to lead and scale its IT M&A Integration capability across healthcare and related regulated industries. This role is designed for a senior IT integration leader who combines deep transaction experience with strong execution discipline, executivelevel presence, and the ability to build durable, repeatable delivery models.
The Director / Senior Director will serve as a handson leader responsible for endtoend IT integration execution across complex mergers, acquisitions, carveouts, and integrations. This individual will operate at the intersection of deal strategy and delivery, partnering closely with deal executives, client CIOs/CTOs, and Huron practice leaders, while maintaining direct accountability for outcomes, quality, and value realization.
Key Responsibilities
IT M&A Integration Leadership
Lead end-to-end IT integration across mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, and separations, from IT due diligence and Day 1 readiness through post-close integration, TSA exit, and value realization
Serve as the primary IT integration lead on complex, high-stakes transactions, balancing speed, risk, and disciplined execution under compressed timelines
Lead IT due diligence in coordination with functional workstreams, translating findings into actionable integration scope, cost, risk, and timing implications
Lead IT carve-outs and separations across applications, infrastructure, data, security, and access management
Own IT TSA strategy, execution, and exit planning
Provide CIO/CTO-level advisory support while remaining actively engaged in execution details and delivery decisions

Develop compelling business cases that quantify transformation benefits: cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and improved clinical outcomes
Design and execute change management plans to ensure successful adoption of new technologies and workflows by clinical and non-clinical staff
Navigate complex organizational structures and foster cross-functional collaboration to align technology initiatives with strategic business goals
Methodology, Governance & Quality Ownership
Establish, refine, and own Huron's IT M&A integration methodology, playbooks, templates, and delivery standards
Design and enforce integration governance models, decision frameworks, and escalation paths
Apply equivalent delivery rigor to digital transformation engagements, structured frameworks, stakeholder governance, and risk management
Manage project teams providing guidance, mentorship, and quality assurance to deliver high-quality work products on time and within budget

Coach senior consultants and managers into strong, independent leaders capable of operating across integration and transformation contexts
Define role archetypes, skill requirements, staffing models, and delivery structures to enable scale across both M&A and digital work
Build succession depth and leadership capacity across the IT integration and digital capabilities
Contribute to a supportive, inclusive team environment where diverse perspectives are valued
Commercial & Client Leadership
Build lasting relationships and cultivate trust with client CIOs, CTOs, VPs of IT, and C-level executives, serving as a peer and trusted advisor
Influence executive decision-making and confidently challenge clients when needed to protect outcomes and advance long-term value
Cultivate and expand client relationships, identifying new business development opportunities within existing accounts and potential clients
Lead the development of proposals, presentations, and thought leadership related to M&A integration, healthcare transformation, and digital innovation
Leverage internal and external networks to contribute to new business, delivering sales and industry presentations, participate in negotiations, and closing contracts
Own delivery economics: scoping accuracy, margin performance, and utilization management across engagements
Growth & Market Development
Contribute to the long-term strategy for scaling Huron's IT M&A and Digital offerings
Drive reuse of delivery assets, templates, and playbooks across transactions and transformation engagements
Partner across Huron practices, connecting M&A integration with operational, digital, and AI-enabled transformation efforts
Contribute to the growth of the practice by building market presence, expanding service offerings, and mentoring junior consultants
Support build-vs-buy decisions for expanding IT integration depth, tooling, and delivery capacity
