Reporting Location: Belleville/Detroit, MI
Position Summary
Join a team installing essential underground utility infrastructure using directional drilling methods. As a Directional Drill Operator / Locator, you will support the successful execution of drilling operations, working alongside experienced crews to safely and efficiently install utilities.
This is a hands-on, physically active role for individuals who take pride in hard work, value teamwork, and want to build a long-term career in utility construction.
What You'll Do
- Support directional drilling operations, including drilling pilot holes, reaming, and pulling product
- Mix and manage drilling fluids (mud systems)
- Assist with locating underground utilities
- Support the crew throughout all phases of the project, from mobilization through restoration
- Operate hand tools and perform general labor in a utility construction environment
- Drive company vehicles to and from job sites
- Follow all safety procedures and properly report incidents
Compensation
- Compensation follows the applicable union scale.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
- Chauffeur's License (CDL preferred)
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from crew leadership
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and goal-oriented mindset
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and in all weather conditions
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, squatting, and standing for extended periods
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening, participate in random drug testing, and maintain a satisfactory driving record (MVR)
