A Direct Support Professional (DSP) Bonus is an additional financial incentive provided to individuals working as DSPs, typically as a way to attract or retain staff in this essential role. These bonuses can be offered as sign-on bonuses for new hires, retention bonuses for existing employees, or performance-based bonuses. The purpose of these bonuses is to recognize the challenging and important work DSPs do in supporting people with disabilities to live independently and achieve their goals. The amount and eligibility criteria for these bonuses vary by employer and location. DSP bonuses are part of broader efforts to address workforce shortages and improve service quality in the field.
