We're Hiring: Direct Support Professionals - The Bancroft School
Location: Mt Laurel NJ
Employment Type: Full Time In Person
Department: Education Services
Hourly Rate: $19.48-$21.96 per hour.

The Bancroft School is currently looking for Direct Support Professionals in Mt Laurel NJ, in this role you'll support children with autism and disabilities and empower them to realize their best life.
About The Bancroft School:
The Bancroft School is a unique educational program that aims to empower students with autism by providing teachable moments throughout their day. In addition to traditional academic subjects, the program also focuses on daily living and social skills. Art and music, along with Adaptive Physical Education and Enrichment activities and an activity pool for water safety, swim instruction, and recreation are all part of the Bancroft experience.
Position Summary:
Provides assistance and support to Teacher in the planning and implementation of classroom instruction to specifically meet the educational needs of the assigned student. Provides encouragement and support to the student to contribute to the best possible educational experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provides assistance to Teacher in planning classroom curriculum and implements plans to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the assigned student;
  • Provides assistance to Teacher for the assessment of an assigned student's abilities and capabilities;aids in the development and implementation of lesson plans and activities that are individual-specific, meet the learning needs of each student, encourage increased skills, and address specific IEP goals;
  • Assists Teacher in establishing and maintaining a classroom environment conducive to maximum academic
    and social learning by maintaining order and guiding each student to socially appropriate behavior;
  • Assists Teacher in the proper utilization of classroom equipment and materials. Makes
    recommendations to Teacher regarding the purchase and usage of new supplies and curriculum
    materials;
  • Under direction of Teacher, observes and tracks student behavior, gathers behavioral data, performs
    calculations, and creates graphic illustrations for review by Teachers, clinical-specific staff, etc, to identify and monitor student proficiency and performance levels, to support modifications to current educational program;
  • Provides ongoing assistance to Teacher in the management of individual behavior of students to create and maintain a safe and secure classroom environment. Reports any safety hazards, property damage, etc. to Teacher

Qualifications
Education & Experience Requirements:
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of direct support experience, preferably within an educational or classroom-based setting; or
  • Completion of 30 college credits with at least six (6) months of related work experience; or
  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is strongly preferred.
