Job description

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing, employee-owned company supporting Department of War (DoW) weapon system development and test, is searching for a talented Real Time Systems Engineer to join our development team. We are looking for an engineer or scientist with expertise in Computer-in-the-Loop (CIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SWIL), Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL), and Directed Energy (DE) weapon software and firmware/Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) development. The candidate will work with a team of scientists and engineers to develop and test DE weapons. Activities will include hard- and soft-realtime software development and test, hardware control algorithm development, and integration of control and monitoring software with mixed signal systems. Duties will include coordination across multiple teams for planning, execution, and reporting of software/firmware activities as part of an Agile development team.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Optical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another relevant technical field
  • 3+ years of experience in at least one of Computer-in-the-Loop (CIL), Software-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop systems
  • Experience with realtime operating systems
  • Experience programming in C++
  • Experience with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) development using VHDL/Verilog
  • Experience programming in Python
  • Experience writing hardware/software interfaces and hardware control algorithms
  • Familiarity with the physics of passive electro-optic or active laser systems
  • Active Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Optical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another relevant technical field
  • Familiarity with objected oriented design and development
  • Experience with infrared imaging and tracking systems
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, such as Red Hat, CentOS or Ubuntu
  • Experience with high-speed camera interfaces, such as CameraLink, 10 GigE Vision
  • Experience developing High Energy Laser (HEL) weapon system software/firmware
