Job description

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing, employee-owned company supporting Department of War (DoW) modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of defensive systems, is searching for a talented Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Engineer to join our development team. The candidate will use tools developed in C++, Python, and the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM) environment to support the design, development, and testing of Directed Energy (DE) - High Energy Laser (HEL) and High Power Microwave (HPM) - weapon systems for United States DoW customers. Activities will support analysis and trade studies of individual subsystem components, assessment of the performance and effectiveness of multiple systems, recommendations for the employment of multiple systems, and MS&A support to live-fire tests of prototype or fielded systems. Duties will include coordination across multiple teams for analysis planning, execution, and regular reporting of emerging and final results that will be delivered to senior management and DoW customers.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant technical field
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in MS&A of DoW systems
  • Experience with the setup and execution of complex mission-level simulations in AFSIM
  • Experience analyzing simulation data and results using one or more techniques from science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or operations research, including, but not limited to, statistical approaches such as hypothesis testing, analysis of variance (ANOVA), linear and non-linear regression, or response surface methodology (RSM)
  • Experience using modeling techniques such as design of experiments (DoE), Monte Carlo simulation, or Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), including reinforcement learning (RL) and neural networks, especially in the context of Deep Reinforcement Learning
  • Experience using simulation frameworks in high performance computing (HPC) systems
  • Experience in both Windows and Linux operating system environments

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant technical field
  • Experience in MS&A of Directed Energy weapon systems
  • Experience with laser beam propagation modeling tools, such as HELCoMES or SHaRE
  • Experience with weapon system battle management and layered defense
  • Experience in the verification and validation (V&V) of MS&A tools
  • Experience integrating multiple MS&A tools in a networked environment
  • Experience developing MS&A models and analysis tools in C++ and Python
  • Experience in objected oriented design and development
  • Experience with deterministic or stochastic modeling, optimization, or heuristic approaches such as genetic algorithms or simulated annealing
  • Familiarity with the physics of electro optical passive or laser systems
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance including Sensitive Compartmented Information
