Position Overview

BayCare Medical Group is a physician-led medical group seeking a board-certified Associate Program Director to join our Family Residency program in Winter Haven, Florida. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of our Family Medicine Residency program, which welcomed its first class of residents in July 2020. The role involves collaboration with the Family Medicine/Transitional Year joint program.

Mission: In collaboration with the Florida State University College of Medicine, the primary mission of the FSU Family Medicine Residency Program at Winter Haven Hospital is to provide a dynamic, professional learning environment. This environment is grounded in the concepts of life-long learning, teaching, quality improvement, evidence-based medicine, and scholarship. Our goal is to recruit and train the next generation of Family Physicians in Florida, Polk County, and the BayCare System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Transitional Year Program Director with program accreditation, rotation tracking, curriculum development, and resident advising.
  • Collaborate with the Family Medicine Associate Program Director on resident rotation schedules for Family Medicine (FM) and Transitional Year (TY) residents.
  • Perform additional academic and clinical duties as assigned by the Family Medicine or Transitional Year Program Directors.
  • Play a significant role in curriculum development and resident career choice education.
  • Provide full-spectrum outpatient family medicine, including prenatal care, pediatrics, and adult care.
  • Regularly precept residents in the clinic.
  • Share call duties with physician members of the entire family medicine department.
  • Perform and precept various office procedures.
  • Foster a noncompetitive, supportive environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess strong computer skills and proficiency with electronic documentation.
