Job description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High School diploma or GED Certificate.

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

5 years' experience drafting, staking, surveying and design of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, substations, and transmission lines.

Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Prepares routine engineering, design assignments, survey of utility lines, prepares and process work orders and estimates.

Prepares bills of materials, cost estimates, designs and work order documents for residential and commercial projects.

Assists with designs and reviews submittal of Contractors. Coordinates projects with contractors and district offices.

Reviews and approves the technical content of work orders for construction or reconstruction.

Assists with designs, plans, and specification for electrical facilities to ensure compliance of both NTUA and RUS.

Provides technical assistance for the electrical facilities maintenance program.

Performs field verification checks and prepares "as-built" drawings.

Performs preliminary design distribution lines rated at 24.94/14.4kV including feasibility and preliminary cost estimates. Standardizes line designs; updates construction standards on a regular basis.

Performs preliminary designs of transmission lines and systems rated up to 69kV. Performs all tasks up to final design with approval of Electric Engineer final review and approval.

Assists planning in evaluating design cost estimates, performing analysis and variances between estimated and actual costs.

Assists in survey, obtaining right of way, archeological clearances for proposed facilities.

Maintains NTUA electric system switching maps, issues equipment numbers.

Reviews telephone and television cable companies joint use applications, agreements, including fiber optic attachments, to ensure meeting standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.
