Job description

After-School Nanny | Arlington, VA (22205)

Pay: $27–$30/hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:30/4:00 PM–6:30/7:00 PM (approximately 15 hours per week)

Start Date: August 31st

A warm and welcoming family in Arlington is looking for an energetic, dependable after-school nanny to care for their two active boys, ages 5 and 7. They are seeking someone who will become an extension of their family—someone who enjoys being engaged, encourages curiosity, and creates a fun, structured afternoon routine.

The ideal candidate is confident managing high-energy children, enjoys staying active, and values positive communication and consistency. The family follows a limited-screen approach during the week and is looking for a nanny who enjoys interacting through play, conversation, and hands-on activities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Picking the children up from school and safely transporting them home (reliable vehicle and valid driver's license required)
  • Unpacking backpacks and helping the boys settle into their afternoon routine
  • Assisting with homework and supporting daily learning activities prepared by Mom
  • Preparing simple, healthy dinners for the children
  • Keeping the children engaged through active play, creativity, and age-appropriate activities
  • Maintaining open communication with the parents regarding the children's day

The ideal nanny will:

  • Have prior experience caring for school-aged children
  • Be energetic, engaging, and able to keep up with two active boys
  • Enjoy creating meaningful connections and becoming part of the family's routine
  • Be dependable, organized, and proactive
  • Respect the family's no-screen-time routine during the week (aside from occasional TV)
  • Be comfortable working with a family that values a progressive, inclusive approach to parenting
  • Have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle

Family Details:

  • Two boys, ages 5 and 7
  • No pets
  • Structured afternoons with homework, learning activities, dinner, and active play
  • Looking for a long-term nanny who will build a lasting relationship with the family

If you're an upbeat, dependable caregiver who loves staying active and helping children thrive after school, we'd love to hear from you!
