Dining Manager information

What does a dining manager do?

A Dining Manager oversees the daily operations of a dining facility, such as a restaurant, cafeteria, or banquet hall. Their responsibilities include managing staff, ensuring high standards of food quality and customer service, handling budgets and inventory, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations. They also coordinate with kitchen staff, plan menus, and address any customer concerns to ensure a positive dining experience.

What are some common challenges faced by dining managers and how can they be addressed?

Dining Managers often encounter challenges such as managing staff schedules during peak hours, handling customer complaints promptly, and maintaining consistent food quality. Effective communication and strong organizational skills are essential for balancing these demands. Proactively cross-training staff, fostering a collaborative team environment, and implementing clear standard operating procedures can help address these challenges and ensure smooth daily operations.

To thrive as a Dining Manager, you need expertise in food service operations, staff supervision, and inventory management, often supported by a degree in hospitality or related experience. Strong leadership, customer service orientation, and effective communication are critical soft skills for managing teams and ensuring guest satisfaction. These skills and qualifications are essential for delivering efficient service, maintaining high standards, and driving business success in a competitive dining environment.

Job description

ABOUT GRASSLANDS CLUB

At Grasslands Club, we set the standard for private club dining for our members. Our members are our community, and our dining room is where lasting relationships are built. We are a team of professionals who take pride in delivering elevated, personalized dining experiences.

We are dedicated to cultivating careers, not just filling shifts. Our team members grow with us, and we are proud to have some of the most tenured hospitality professionals in the region. If you are passionate about the art of fine dining service and want a home where your skills are genuinely valued, Grasslands Club is where you belong.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a dedicated Fine Dining Server to join our front-of-house team. In this full-time role, you will serve as the face of our dining experience, building authentic relationships with members, anticipating their needs, and orchestrating meals that feel effortless and special.

Unlike the revolving door of traditional restaurant service, here you will develop real connections with a consistent membership, such as learning our member’s names, celebrating milestones, and becoming a trusted part of their club experience. This is hospitality at its most meaningful.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide refined, anticipatory table service in a fine dining environment guided by knowledge and intuition

  • Build genuine relationships with members, remembering preferences, dietary needs, and personal details

  • Present menus with confidence, offering thoughtful food and wine pairings and in-depth knowledge of every dish

  • Coordinate seamlessly with culinary, bar, and support staff for flawless service execution

  • Uphold impeccable table setup, timing, and presentation standards throughout every service

  • Proactively identify and resolve member needs before they are voiced

  • Assist with private events, member functions, and special occasion dining

  • Embody and reinforce Tennessee Grasslands' culture of warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Experience serving in a fine dining, private club, or upscale hospitality environment

  • Passion for creating memorable, guest-centered dining experiences

  • Strong food and beverage knowledge, including wine and cocktail fundamentals

  • Polished, articulate communication style with a naturally warm and attentive presence

  • Ability to manage multiple tables and tasks with grace under pressure

  • A proactive, team-first mentality with a commitment to continuous improvement

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Our Servers earn an hourly rate of $8.25/hour plus tips.

  • Full-time position with reliable scheduling and a stable, professional work environment

  • Competitive base pay plus gratuity from a loyal, consistent membership base

  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision coverage

  • 401k Retirement Savings Plan with company match

  • Paid time off and holiday pay

  • Ongoing education in food, wine, and fine dining service techniques

  • Career growth pathway into lead server, captain, and supervisory roles

  • A team culture built on mutual respect, recognition, and shared excellence
