What is a dining aide?

Dining Aides are staff members who assist with meal service in settings such as hospitals, nursing homes, schools, or assisted living facilities. Their responsibilities often include setting up dining areas, serving food and beverages, helping residents or patients with their meals, and cleaning up after meals. Dining Aides play a crucial role in ensuring that meal times are safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone. They may also be responsible for following dietary guidelines and accommodating special needs. Good communication and teamwork skills are important for Dining Aides.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a dining aide?

To thrive as a Dining Aide, you need basic food service knowledge, attention to sanitation standards, and often a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems, dishwashing equipment, and food safety certifications such as ServSafe are typically required.
