Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Supervisor, Health Information, you will manage and safeguard patient health records while overseeing the daily operations of the Health Information Department. You will coordinate meaningful use initiatives, supervise personnel, and ensure that information is accurately processed into the EMR system through scanning, batching, quality checks, and auditing.
Every day, you will provide support to patients, physicians, staff, and vendors, upholding efficient workflows and ensuring high levels of customer service. You will also travel to other sites as needed to maintain consistent standards and address department needs.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, an eye for detail, and adaptability as you guide the team in delivering reliable, compliant services. By balancing operational goals with a focus on quality, you will help maintain data integrity and promote an exceptional experience for all stakeholders.
  • Processes requests for the release/copy of medical information in a timely and accurate manner, and according to established procedure.
  • Responsible for clinical data extraction including data quality, data integrity, and data timeliness.
  • Assures data is accurately maintained, identifies data management needs and demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving skills including development for performance improvement activities with monitoring.
  • Supervises the control, use and release of health information.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the statutes, regulations, and accreditation standards that impact ROI practices with special regard to federal regulations and public reporting.
  • Plans for current and future staff, equipment, and computer needs, and manages these resources effectively.

Job Requirements
Required
  • Completion of an RN program or completing an RN program within 6 months of hire

and
  • One (1) year of experience in a HIM department
  • Extensive knowledge of HIPAA and Release of Information regulatory mandates
  • Ability to read and write effectively
  • Must display a high degree of tact and the ability to communicate legal/regulatory requirements in understandable language
  • Strong computer knowledge. Knowledge of legal and regulatory mandates and accrediting standards
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of skill in human relations and communication with the ability to deal constructively on a one-on-one basis with a wide variety of persons and personalities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain composure in a busy working environment
  • Must possess those technical and critical thinking skills required to complete the duties as described in this job description

Preferred
  • Degree in relevant field
  • One (1) year supervisory experience
