How much do digitization jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 7, 2026, the average hourly pay for digitization in Tennessee is $27.39, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $17.23 and $33.24 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is digitization?

Digitization is the process of converting information from a physical format, such as paper documents, photographs, or analog recordings, into a digital format that can be stored, processed, and accessed electronically. This process often involves scanning, photographing, or using specialized equipment to create digital files. Digitization enables easier sharing, preservation, and retrieval of information, making it widely used in industries like libraries, archives, healthcare, and business. It also helps protect original materials from wear and tear by reducing the need for direct handling.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Digitization Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Digitization Specialist, you need expertise in document handling, digital archiving, and data management, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in library science or information technology. Familiarity with scanning equipment, digital asset management systems (DAMS), and metadata standards such as Dublin Core is typically required. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication help ensure accuracy and smooth project workflows. These skills are vital for preserving information integrity, ensuring accessibility, and supporting the successful transition from physical to digital formats.

What is the difference between Digitization vs Data Entry Specialist?

While both roles involve working with digital data, digitization focuses on converting physical or analog data into digital formats, often involving technical tools and processes. Data entry specialists primarily focus on accurately inputting data into systems. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job role.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in digitization roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working in digitization often encounter challenges such as handling fragile or outdated source materials, ensuring data accuracy during conversion, and managing large volumes of documents efficiently. Addressing these issues typically involves adopting best practices for document handling, leveraging advanced scanning and OCR technologies, and implementing thorough quality control processes. Collaboration with IT teams and archivists is also essential to ensure that digital assets are well-organized, securely stored, and easily accessible for future use.

Job description

Job Overview:
APTIM's Marketing & Communications team seeks a digitally versatile, growth-minded Digital Marketing Specialist to help plan, launch, and optimize integrated campaigns that build brand awareness, strengthen business development efforts, and generate leads across digital channels.
This is an opportunity for a motivated marketing professional to contribute to APTIM's global growth strategy while supporting meaningful work for clients, communities, and the ecosystems within our world's natural environments.
This role operates within APTIM's Corporate Marketing & Communications team, where the Digital Marketing function serves as a strategic hub for campaigns, content, analytics, digital experiences, and marketing technology. The Digital Marketing Specialist will be involved in content development, website updates, email marketing, social media, SEO/GEO/AEO, analytics, multimedia content, AI-enabled workflows, and cross-channel campaign support.
The Digital Marketing team functions as a cross-trained, collaborative unit. While team members may have primary areas of focus, they are expected to support broader marketing priorities rather than work within rigid channel silos.
The ideal candidate is resourceful, adaptable, and comfortable learning new systems and processes independently. This role is well suited for someone with a startup mentality who enjoys solving problems, figuring things out, wearing multiple hats, and helping move projects forward wherever needed.
Success requires initiative, collaboration, creative judgment, operational thinking, excellent content and design instincts, and a willingness to continuously learn as modern marketing practices evolve. Candidates should also bring practical experience using generative AI tools to support research, content creation, optimization, and campaign development.
The Digital Marketing Specialist reports directly to the Digital Marketing Manager.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Support the execution and optimization of integrated marketing campaigns across email, web, social media, paid media, events, and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with business units, subject matter experts (SMEs), business development teams, and Marketing & Communications leadership to support marketing and business objectives.
  • Assist in lead-generation and nurture marketing initiatives, including email workflows, landing pages, webinars, retargeting campaigns, social campaigns, and content syndication efforts.
  • Support funnel-based marketing initiatives by helping align content and campaigns to audience needs, engagement stages, and conversion opportunities.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of account-based marketing (ABM) and targeted audience campaigns.
  • Create, edit, and optimize digital marketing content across formats, including: website copy, landing pages, email campaigns, blogs and articles, social media content, case studies, promotional assets, and short-form multimedia content.
  • Translate technical or complex information into clear, engaging, audience-focused marketing content.
  • Support webpage creation and updates through content management systems such as WordPress.
  • Apply SEO/GEO/AEO best practices, keyword optimization, and user-focused formatting across digital content.
  • Assist in the creation and editing of multimedia content, including short-form video, audio clips, podcast support content, and visual-first social content.
  • Utilize modern creator tools, AI-assisted creative applications, and digital platforms to support efficient content production workflows.
  • Use generative AI platforms and tools within OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Perplexity, or similar platforms to support research, content development, workflow acceleration, audience analysis, and campaign optimization.
  • Apply AI prompt best practices and critically evaluate AI-generated content for quality, clarity, accuracy, and brand alignment.
  • Execute email campaigns and support automated nurture and drip workflows using marketing automation platforms.
  • Assist with campaign implementation across CRM, CMS, analytics, social publishing, and marketing automation systems.
  • Monitor campaign performance, engagement metrics, and digital KPIs while helping identify optimization opportunities and actionable insights.
  • Support A/B and multivariate testing initiatives across email, landing pages, and campaign assets.
  • Support conferences, trade shows, webinars, and digital event promotion efforts.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving digital marketing trends, AI advancements, content formats, audience behavior, and platform changes.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing, marketing communications, content marketing, campaign execution, or related roles. Experience in the AEC, environmental, energy, infrastructure, or professional services sectors is a plus.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative, or lean-team environments where adaptability and self-direction were required.
  • Experience working within digital campaign environments involving email marketing, audience segmentation, campaign reporting, analytics, social publishing, content management systems, or marketing automation workflows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and help to develop clear, audience-focused messaging and content for technical, business, and client audiences.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, workflows, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with funnel-based marketing, lead generation concepts, customer journeys, and account-based marketing (ABM).
  • Strong creative judgment and understanding of modern digital content best practices.
  • Familiarity with modern marketing technology ecosystems, including CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, CMS platforms, analytics tools, social media publishing tools, AI platforms, and creator-focused applications .
  • Comfort learning new tools, systems, and digital workflows independently.
  • Practical experience using generative AI tools within marketing workflows and an understanding of prompt engineering best practices.
  • Experience with modern creator and content production tools video editing, audio editing, podcast support, or multimedia content production is a plus.

Application Materials:
To be considered for this position, please submit:
