Job description

Digital Construction CoordinatorReporting to the Digital Construction Manager, the Digital Construction Coordinator (VDC Coordinator) will facilitate the implementation of Bird's Digital Construction program on project sites, providing BIM/VDC services to the Operations team at the project level.
This role will be based out of the South Edmonton office.What You Will Be Working On
  • Perform design coordination and assist in identifying constructability issues with the project team and subcontractors through clash detection of 3D models.

  • Collaborate with the site team to develop the site logistics plan in a model environment and video or plan exports as required.

  • Responsible as "model administrator" for assigned projects.

  • Assist in training other project staff and subcontractors on digital construction related software and workflows as required.

  • Ensure model accuracy for project specific requirements including the quality of As-Built conditions.

  • Assist Estimating department with quantity take-off.

  • Complete 4D schedule visualization linking 3D models to live schedules.

  • Prepare BIM Execution Plans in collaboration with consultant and trade partners.

  • Prepare and lead coordination meetings with our project teams.

  • Perform laser scanning activities and reporting.

  • Perform drone photography and video flights on ongoing projects.

  • Complete progress tracking activities on site for our Digital Construction tasks.

  • Set-up and maintain relevant collaboration platform like Revizto, BIM360 and OpenSpace.

What We Are Looking For
  • Construction Management background with experience as a Digital Construction or BIM/VDC Coordinator in a design/build environment in the ICI sector, preferably with a Contractor; and/or,

  • A prime or coordinating consultant background with experience as a Digital Construction or BIM/VDC Coordinator in the ICI sector.

  • Portfolios that have included large commercial and institutional projects, demonstrating a sound understanding of the design process based on a strong technical knowledge base.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • The ability and commitment to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, and able to handle pressure and challenges.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills to build and maintain trust with clients, consultants, and team members and instill competitive excellence and pride in teamwork through the delivery of a project.

  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.

  • Completion of Construction Management Certificate Program or equivalent an asset.

  • Minimum 4 years' experience working with digital construction related software, primarily Revit, Revizto, Fuzor, Assemble, and Navisworks (or equivalents).

  • Construction knowledge and/or related work experience an asset.

  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, and a general understanding of MS Project/Primavera P6.
