Overview

The Manager, IT Web Services will be primarily responsible for the design, development, and support of our company’s external web properties. This includes websites supporting Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Medical Affairs. The ideal candidate combines front-end development expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills to translate business needs into elegant, secure, and scalable web solutions.The candidate will also evaluate digital solutions such as marketing/social platforms, sales applications, and provide technical support, guidance and hands‑on delivery in the planning, implementation, and ongoing operation of systems, working with the other Shionogi IT teams.

Responsibilities

This position will collect business requirements, document specifications, create project plans, configurations, test plans and capture results in order to share knowledge with the team and develop technology solutions.

This position will also participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the applications. The incumbent ensures that applications and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff and partners.

This position will work individually and as a team member of IT in troubleshooting the health and performance of applications; and will assist project teams with technical issues in the initiation and planning phases. These activities include the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research and development within the project lifecycle; technical analysis and design; and support of operations staff in executing, testing and rolling‑out the solutions. Participation on projects is focused on smoothing the transition of projects from development staff to production staff by performing operations activities within the project lifecycle.

Technical environment includes Commercial web sites (Linux, MySQL, Apache, PHP, JavaScript, Next.js, Docker, AWS, Adobe Experience Manager or similar CMS, Digital security), SharePoint, SQL Server, Business Intelligence tools, mobile apps, marketing automation platforms, Domain name management, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Works independently on requirements gathering, technical support, delivery, operations and engineering.
    • Installs, configures, updates, deploys, integrates and operates websites and applications.
    • Ensure web solutions adhere to industry best practices for security, accessibility, SEO, and performance
    • Participates in solution design reviews of digital solutions (e.g. web applications) and provides subject matter expertise.
    • Manage vendor and agency relationships for specialized design, content, and quality assurance.
    • Takes ownership of tasks and projects, assuming full responsibility for their timely completion.
  • Provides architecture and technical leadership across a range of digital and middleware technologies including but not limited to Mobile/Web Framework, Marketing Automation Platform, Data Analysis, Web Content Management, Online Marketing, Social, and Security platforms.
  • Conducts technology proof of concepts, prescribe technology standards, tool recommendations.
  • Provides consultation on complex technical issues and collaborates with other IT teams, and vendor partners to provide resolution.
  • Improves the effectiveness and efficiency of solution design activities: ensures that all parties adopt a common framework of standard, reusable design practices in the form of activities, processes and solutions.
  • Supports and educates the end users for day‑to‑day operations.
  • Identifies and resolves complex application problems utilizing structured troubleshooting methods, techniques and tools.
  • Authors and maintains documentation according to Shionogi standards and regulations necessary for the pharmaceutical industry. This includes, but is not limited to, technical specifications, system diagrams and documentation, testing documents, standard operating procedures, work instructions, and operation records.
  • Depicts complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and status to project teams.
  • Transfers technical and operational knowledge to Help Desk and Enterprise Services when rolling out new solutions or changes to ensure smooth transition.
  • Provides support and manage demands for Commercial area, and other departments as needed.
Minimum Job Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of overall professional experience with a minimum of three (3) years in a Marketing IT role in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive solution architecture experience in web development, Web Content Management Systems, Database management and data integration (real time or batch) leveraging different technologies.
  • 5+ yearsexperience in web development, including PHP, Next.js, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, MySQL, Docker and working knowledge of popular front‑end development frameworks such as Vue.js, React.js & Angular.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and SEO principles
  • Experience integrating web platforms with tools such as Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Search Indexing tools, CAPTCHA, etc.
  • Hands‑on experience administering, deploying and managing web applications and CI/CD pipelines on AWS (e.g., EC2, CloudFront, ELB, S3, RDS, Glue, Systems Manager, IAM, Route53, Lambda, API Gateway)
  • Familiarity with digital content approval workflows (e.g. Veeva PromoMats or equivalent)
  • Ability to author formal end user communications and system documentation independently.

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly in effectively communicating technical concepts to a non‑technical audience.
  • Self‑starter, problem solver, self‑motivated. Figures out how to get it done (the right way).

Other Requirements
  • Experience working in a global organization is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% of the year.
  • Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence required at least 2‑3 days per week.
Additional Information

The base salary range for this full‑time position is $130,000 - $150,000. Individual pay is determined by several factors, which include but are not limited to: job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The range does not include the comprehensive benefits, bonus, long‑term incentive, applicable allowances, or any additional compensation that may be associated with this role.
