A digital video specialist is a professional who creates, edits, and manages video content in digital formats for various platforms such as websites, social media, and streaming services. They use specialized software to produce high-quality videos, often collaborating with other creative team members to develop engaging content. Their responsibilities may include filming, video editing, animation, post-production, and ensuring that videos align with branding and marketing goals. Digital video specialists are also expected to stay updated with the latest video production trends and technologies.

  • Partner with editorial, marketing, PR, sales, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated content execution and cross-platform promotion.

Live Content Production & Execution

  • Oversee the production of compelling live programming, including breaking news, interviews, special events, community programming, and other original content.
  • Establish rapid-response workflows and production capabilities to quickly activate live coverage around breaking news and high-priority stories.
  • Ensure content is editorially sound, culturally relevant, visually engaging, and tailored to Latino audiences across the U.S.
  • Build relationships with journalists, newsmakers, creators, and other talent to develop compelling programming and expand audience reach.

Audience Growth & Platform Optimization

  • Develop strategies to increase discoverability, viewer retention, engagement, and audience growth across platforms.
  • Optimize titles, descriptions, thumbnails, SEO, metadata, calls-to-action, and other platform-specific elements to maximize performance.
  • Incorporate cross-promotion within live streams through slates, lower-thirds, and calls-to-action that drive audiences to other Local Media content, digital products, and platforms.
  • Establish and maintain community engagement and moderation standards that foster safe, inclusive, and active live audiences.
  • Performance, Analytics & Monetization
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, including concurrent viewers, watch time, engagement, audience growth, and monetization.
  • Use performance data and audience insights to make programming decisions and continuously improve content strategy.
  • Partner with video and social teams to maximize the value of live content by repurposing streams into short-form clips, reels, and long-form VOD content.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and monetization through programming, audience growth, partnerships, and platform capabilities.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in digital video, live streaming, social media, digital programming, or multimedia content production.
  • Strong knowledge of YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and other emerging video platforms, including platform-specific best practices.
  • Strong understanding of audience development, content optimization, SEO, algorithms, and social engagement strategies.
  • Experience developing and managing a programming calendar or content grid across multiple platforms.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven news or media environment, including rapid-response coverage.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to identify compelling, culturally relevant content for Latino audiences.
  • Experience using audience analytics and performance data to make programming and content decisions, including KPIs such as watch time, concurrent viewers, engagement, and audience growth.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and productions simultaneously.
