Description

About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with over 10,000 entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals in over 40 countries. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The collaborative environment and engaging work—guided by A&M's core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity—are why our people love working at A&M.

The Team

Alvarez & Marsal's Corporate Performance Improvement practice is looking for an Infrastructure Architect to lead large-scale infrastructure and network modernization, cloud readiness assessment, and architecture transformation for clients operating complex, legacy-heavy technology environments. This role requires someone who has redesigned enterprise infrastructure architectures at scale-not just optimized existing environments. The candidate should be well versed in the latest market trends in infrastructure technology transformation.

Experience Should Include

  • Data center architecture, infrastructure consolidation, and legacy system modernization at enterprise scale

  • Cloud readiness assessment, migration planning, and hybrid/multi-cloud architecture design (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • Virtualization strategy and optimization (compute, storage, and hyperconverged infrastructure)

  • Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipeline architecture

  • Legacy application assessment, refactoring strategies, and containerization/Kubernetes readiness

  • Storage modernization, database migration, and data architecture consolidation

  • Infrastructure security modernization, compliance mapping, and zero-trust infrastructure principles

  • Capacity planning, performance baseline analysis, and cost modeling across infrastructure footprint

  • AI-driven infrastructure monitoring, predictive analytics, and optimization tooling-baseline competency with AI-assisted tools expected; candidates should articulate how AI accelerates infrastructure analysis and optimization

  • Government and regulated environments-direct experience with federal infrastructure standards is a strong advantage and preferred for this role

  • Vendor evaluation, negotiation, and optimization of infrastructure contracts and commercial agreements

How you will contribute

  • Lead infrastructure assessment and baseline analysis-topology mapping, capacity utilization, performance bottleneck identification, and cost modeling

  • Design modernized target infrastructure architectures (cloud-native, hybrid, or optimized on-premises) aligned to business requirements and cloud migration roadmaps

  • Assess cloud readiness, identify gaps in skills/tooling/governance, and develop phased migration strategy with sequencing logic

  • Develop infrastructure automation and IaC implementation roadmaps to reduce manual toil and improve deployment velocity

  • Evaluate dependencies between infrastructure modernization, application refactoring, and broader digital transformation initiatives

  • Define and integrate infrastructure findings into A&M's broader engagement scope and deliverables

  • Support practice development through internal training, content creation, and people development

Qualifications

  • 8-12+ years of professional experience in infrastructure architecture for complex, large enterprises, with consulting or advisory delivery

  • Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, or large-scale transformation programs

  • Federal infrastructure environment experience preferred-deep modernization experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government) can substitute

  • Bachelor's degree required; cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator), infrastructure certifications (CISSP, ITIL Master), or equivalent strongly preferred

  • Comfortable with travel up to 80%

  • Full-time, contract, and project-based engagements available

What Distinguishes a Great Candidate

Has designed and led large-scale infrastructure and network modernization programs-not just operated existing systems. Understands the dependency between infrastructure readiness and application modernization success. Can work across infrastructure, security, operations, and business teams. Brings AI-assisted infrastructure analysis into the delivery toolkit as standard practice. Comfortable designing for hybrid and multi-cloud environments without being prescriptive about platform choice.
