Job description

Consumers Energy is Michigan's largest energy provider, providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties. Location: This is a hybrid (onsite/virtual) position requiring onsite presence on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The selected candidate may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula and will be expected to travel to One Energy Plaza in Jackson, MI, as business needs require. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned location or be willing to relocate. A relocation package is available for qualified candidates.

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Senior Manager, Digital Product Management leads a portfolio of digital products and a team of Product Managers responsible for delivering measurable business outcomes through technology. This role owns multi-year (1-4 year) product roadmaps at the feature, capability, and portfolio levels, ensuring alignment across business strategy, enterprise architecture, and technology execution.

As a senior product leader, this individual partners closely with executive leadership to shape long-term investment priorities while working collaboratively with IT and engineering leaders to solve complex business challenges, manage competing priorities and tradeoffs, and deliver scalable, secure, and sustainable solutions.

This leader establishes product management standards, operating models, and talent strategies for the organization, coaching and developing Product Managers across product strategy, discovery, delivery, and value measurement. They balance near-term delivery needs with long-term platform health, organizational capability development, and customer value creation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Technology and IT Partnership Development
    Develops and strengthens partnerships with IT, engineering, and architecture leaders to shape solution direction, prioritize work, and ensure product outcomes align with enterprise standards for security, resiliency, data management, and long-term system health. Translates technical considerations into clear business, risk, and investment implications to support leadership decision-making.
  • Operating Model and Culture Transformation
    Deploys and integrates operating models and cultural practices that advance agile, product-centric ways of working within large-scale, regulated environments. Drives improvements in flow, predictability, and business outcomes. Influences cross-functional leaders on digital investment and delivery expectations while modeling inclusive, psychologically safe, and data-driven leadership grounded in customer empathy and continuous improvement.
  • Product Strategy and Business Leadership
    Owns and drives the product vision and multi-year roadmaps for a portfolio of digital products, ensuring alignment with business strategy, customer needs, regulatory requirements, and long-term enterprise value. Balances near-term delivery priorities with sustainable platform, data, and architectural strategies to maximize business impact and return on investment.
  • Product Execution and Prioritization
    Leads portfolio prioritization and delivery by establishing clear frameworks that balance customer value, business impact, technical complexity, risk, and organizational capacity. Facilitates complex tradeoff decisions, aligns roadmaps and dependencies, and provides senior-level product leadership to resolve cross-domain challenges and escalations.
  • People Leadership and Talent Development
    Leads, coaches, and develops Product Managers across all experience levels, establishing clear expectations for excellence, accountability, and collaboration. Defines product management standards, career paths, and long-term talent development strategies, including mentoring, succession planning, and capability-building initiatives.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, with seven (7) or more years of experience in digital product management, including direct management of multiple Product Managers concurrently. Demonstrated success in owning product strategy, roadmaps, and prioritization at scale. Experience partnering closely with both business leaders and IT/engineering teams.
