Position Description:

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Drill and Shovel Welder (Tech 4 or Higher) with our Open Pit Maintenance department.

Responsibilities:
  • Safely maintain a fleet of P&H electric shovels, Hitachi 5500 hydraulic shovel, Atlas Copco, and Epiroc drills.
  • Maintain welds on various equipment using a variety of processes such as manual arc, tungsten inert gas, metallic inert gas, brazing, air arc, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items ensuring safety.
  • Install various items such as safety devices, railings, barriers, arc flash screens, etc. for the purpose of completing projects safely and within established time frames.
  • Proficiency in AIR ARC procedures and running wire required.
  • Competent in wear iron replacement.
  • Responsible for reporting in writing detail of work activities at the completion of every job.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:
  • Three (3) years' experience in related field preferred
  • Ability to maintain an inventory of personal tools to complete the job required
  • Personal hand tools required
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds required
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, team orientated and work with minimum supervision required
  • Proven safety record required
  • Excellent attendance record required
  • Willingness to work in adverse conditions required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
  • The ability to work a rotating schedule of days and nights is an essential function of this role

About Nevada Gold Mines
Nevada Gold Mines is a joint venture between Barrick Gold Corporation (61.5%) and Newmont Goldcorp Corporation (38.5%), combining their significant assets across Nevada to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world and realize the full potential of these mines through synergies and best-in-class operational improvements.
The massive mining operation comprises 8 mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities that produced an estimated 4 million ounces of gold in 2018. Three of these assets are Tier One gold mines: Barrick's Cortez; the combination of Barrick's Goldstrike and Newmont Goldcorp's Carlin; and the combination of Barrick's Turquoise Ridge and Newmont Goldcorp's Twin Creeks.
