Job description

Company Description

Advontemedia Inc is a web-native digital publishing platform and managed production service that helps organizations replace PDFs, flipbooks, and print-heavy workflows with beautifully designed, vertically scrolling, mobile-responsive digital publications, offered under our VERTIQUL brand.

Our editions run directly in the web browser (no app required) and are built by in-house designers with responsive HTML5 layouts, searchable/indexable text, multimedia, analytics, advertising options, ADA-conscious presentation, and client-branded publishing platform maintained under each organization's own domain.

After 15 years, we are hiring our first dedicated Director of Sales & Marketing to build a proactive growth engine based on our industry dominant and proven modern digital edition solution.

Job Description

This is a sales-first leadership role for someone who can build the playbook from the ground up. Historically, sales have been handled by the company founders and we are now expanding to targeted outbound sales, account development, and vertical-market growth.

Higher education & institutional publications now represent our highest growth sector. We are focused on expanding with colleges, universities, associations, non-profit and state/federal organizations seeking to reduce print costs, improve accessibility, and move beyond outdated flipbook editions.

Responsibilities

  • Build the company's first structured sales process from marketing/prospecting to close.
  • Develop target account lists across higher education, libraries, associations, government, and institutional publishers.
  • Prospect through email, phone, LinkedIn, referrals, conferences, and direct outreach.
  • Sell a recurring subscription platform with hosted, maintained, and production-supported services.
  • Run discovery calls, demos, proposals, follow-up, negotiation, and closing.
  • Position the solution against PDFs, flipbooks, print-only workflows, and app-based publishing.
  • Help create sales collateral, case studies, email campaigns, pitch decks, and vertical-specific messaging.
  • Manage CRM activity, pipeline reporting, forecasting, and sales metrics.
  • Role will manage additional sales and marketing staff as company continues growth

Compensation

Compensation begins with base salary listed and after 3 months transitions to a lower base and higher performance incentive monthly compensation to exceed original base monthly pay.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience.
  • Experience selling SaaS, software, martech, publishing technology, digital services, or subscription-based solutions.
  • Proven ability to build pipeline and close new business.
  • Comfortable being the first sales hire and personally prospecting, pitching, and closing.
  • Strong writing, presentation, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Experience with higher education, government, libraries, associations, nonprofits, or institutional sales is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with digital publishing, accessibility, AI, seo, analytics, advertising, or mobile-first content.
