DIGITAL ABG OPERATOR

The Position:

We are looking to fill one 3rd Shift (10:00pm - 6:00am) ABG Operator position.
General Position Summary: The Digital ABG Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting digital finishing equipment-primarily the ABG Digicon Series 3-to produce high quality labels and flexible packaging components. This role ensures all production activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with documented procedures, quality standards, and production schedules. The operator plays a key role in supporting continuous improvement, minimizing downtime, and maintaining exceptional product quality.
Responsibilities include:
Equipment Operation & Production
Operates ABG Digicon and related digital finishing equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications, internal procedures, and safety guidelines.
Reviews job orders, production specifications, and special instructions to ensure accurate setup and execution.
Performs machine setup activities, including mounting cutting dies, embossing dies, print cylinders, and other tooling required for each job.
Adjusts machine settings such as speed, tension, alignment, and registration to achieve optimal print and finishing quality.
Cuts and inspects samples during production runs to verify accuracy, color consistency, and alignment, identifying and correcting imperfections.
Monitors production quality throughout the run, maintaining required samples and documentation.
Completes all tasks according to the production schedule while supporting efficient workflow and minimal downtime.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Performs routine and preventative maintenance on ABG Digicon equipment as scheduled.
Identifies mechanical or quality related issues, performs corrective adjustments, and escalates complex problems when necessary.
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring equipment is properly cared for and free of debris.
Documentation & Compliance
Reads, understands, and follows all documented procedures within the area of responsibility.
Accurately records production data, time, and job related information for costing and traceability.
Adheres to company work rules, safety regulations, and quality standards at all times.
Ensures compliance with internal quality systems and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
Teamwork & Collaboration
Works effectively with team members, supervisors, and support departments to meet production goals.
Communicates clearly regarding job status, equipment issues, and quality concerns.
Supports cross training and knowledge sharing within the production team.
Technical & Mechanical Skills
Strong basic math abilities, including calculating rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpreting production data or bar graphs.
Solid technical reading and comprehension skills for understanding machine manuals, operational procedures, and job documentation.
High manual dexterity and precision for performing mechanical adjustments, setups, and job changes on the finishing line.
Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain ABG Digicon Series 3 or similar digital finishing equipment (preferred).
Problem Solving & Adaptability
Proactive problem solving mindset with the ability to identify issues quickly, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Ability to remain calm, analytical, and focused in fast paced or high pressure production environments.
Flexibility and willingness to learn new technologies, processes, and equipment as the business evolves.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks to support production timelines.

Physical Demands
Employees must be able to perform the following essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Stand for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours per shift.
Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements required by production tasks.
Regularly lift, carry, and handle materials or equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Use proper lifting techniques and approved mechanical aids or lifting devices when required.
Occasionally climb step stools or ladders to access work areas or equipment.
Frequently push or pull materials, carts, or other heavy items.
Work in environments with elevated noise levels and exposure to oils, lubricants, chemicals, or other production related substances.
Workplace Safety Guidelines
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements at all times; noncompliance may result in corrective action.
Participate in all required safety and compliance training and apply training to daily work practices.
Ensure machine guards, sensors, and safety devices are correctly installed and functioning before operating equipment.
Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, spills, near misses, or incidents to appropriate personnel.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard free work area to support safe operations
