Interstate Graphics is a high-volume printing company specializing in delivering top-quality printed materials with speed and precision. We serve a diverse customer base across various industries, offering services ranging from large format printing to custom signage and promotional products. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Digital Cutting Operator to join our production team.


Position Summary

The Digital Cutting Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining digital cutting equipment (e.g., Zünd, Kongsberg, Colex) used in the post-press finishing process. This role ensures that printed materials are accurately cut to specifications and meet our high-quality standards. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain digital cutting equipment to cut printed materials including vinyl, paperboard, foam board, corrugated plastic, and other substrates.
  • Set up machine parameters according to job specifications and digital cut files.
  • Review and interpret job tickets, cut files, and quality standards before starting each job.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect finished pieces for accuracy, quality, and conformance to client specifications.
  • Communicate with the Prepress and Production departments to ensure alignment on job requirements and scheduling.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Record production data and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience operating digital cutting equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with RIP software and vector-based design files (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW).
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with digital cut files (DXF, PDF, AI).
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, blueprints, and safety guidelines.
  • Physical ability to lift materials up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Zünd or similar digital flatbed cutting systems.
  • Knowledge of large-format printing processes and finishing techniques.
  • Understanding of color management and registration alignment.
