Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Marketing - Digital Content & Advertising will provide input into the athletics marketing department's strategy to develop fan affinity and sell tickets to revenue-producing athletic events through digital and traditional advertising platforms. This position will manage and execute the revenue producing emails for the marketing department and work with marketing team to create, place, track and evaluate overall advertising efforts for the athletic program. This position will be expected to work all home football game and select other events. The selected candidate will report to Director of Marketing - Digital Content & Advertising.
What You'll Be Doing:
Email Marketing Execution and Strategy
  • Responsible for managing and building key audience segments of the Purdue Athletics community through email marketing and communications.
  • Coordinate with the ticket office, fan experience, communications, and the creative team to build outgoing email solicitations to drive ticket sales and improve communications with fans and season ticket holders.
  • Assist in building strategy and best practices as it relates to email marketing and communications.
  • Measure results and track metrics to improve campaigns and report on email performance.
  • Execute marketing automation services in conjunction with department's Paciolan product to effectively maximize resources available to promote Purdue athletics and sell tickets to revenue-producing athletic events

Digital/Traditional Marketing Collaboration and Execution
  • Responsible for coordinating digital marketing messaging and efforts across owned and paid digital assets.
  • Work with our ticketing partner to maintain and update marketing needs on our e-commerce website that reflect current and future marketing priorities.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure coordination of marketing effort across Purdue Athletics social media handles (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and TikTok).
  • Promote and utilize our new mobile app as a key component of the digital marketing mix.
  • Maintain and update marketing web pages on PurdueSports.com to accurately display the latest information and offerings for tickets, promotions, and Kids Club
  • Work with fan experience team on advertising budgets for each sport in order to maximize awareness, attendance and revenue

Project Management, Collaboration and Strategic Improvement
  • Ensure proper timelines are built and maintained for current and future marketing advertising campaigns including but not limited to television, print, digital, etc.
  • Assist in developing advertising plans that reflect Purdue Athletics' goals and achieve departmental priorities.
  • Utilize analytics tools to monitor performance and ROI of paid marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with Creative staff to develop impactful marketing assets.
  • Work with the external operations team to evaluate the current digital landscape as well as future trends to enhance and grow digital efforts.
  • Conduct research, networking and learning to improve digital marketing subject-matter expertise.
  • Work with Business Intelligence department to build audiences to target digital campaigns and collect data to tailor messaging and provide leads for sales team.
  • Other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, management or related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in marketing, advertising, or social media management.
  • Experience in digital/social marketing, email marketing and e-commerce highly preferred.
  • Experience within a Division I or pro sports team is preferred.

Skills needed:
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of graphic design using the Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Business acumen with understanding of how job responsibilities advance departmental goals.
  • General creative thinking and idea generation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to perform accurate detail-oriented work, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population and strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Experience working with an e-mail marketing platform is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided for using the Paciolan/Adobe platform.
  • Adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required.
