Position Summary
The Douglas and Judith Krupp Library at Bryant University seeks a reliable, service-oriented person to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic, high tech library environment.
This position reports to the Manager of Research & Instruction Services and is accountable for providing support to the librarians and for the management of the Research & Instruction Department during hours when librarians are not available.
This is a full-time, 35-hour per week position with excellent benefits. This position works Sunday - Thursday, 5:30pm - 1:30 am.

Principal Accountabilities
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Providing basic research services in the absence of librarians through face to face and digital services; accurately and quickly providing appropriate information to patrons. This requires knowledge of electronic and print information resources.
  • Effectively working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and community members.
  • Providing accurate and timely administrative support to the librarians.
  • Maintaining the reference collection, including filing serials, shelving and shifting books and keeping reference stacks in order.
  • Providing basic troubleshooting of equipment such as copiers, microfilm readers, printers, scanners; assisting library users with MS Office suite and other software packages.
  • Supervision and training of Research & Instruction student employees.
  • Working on library services marketing via digital signage, social media, and more.
  • Assisting other library departments as needed.
  • Attending department and library staff meetings.
  • Performing other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
This position is best filled by an individual with the following qualifications:
  • Experience working with library materials, including print and electronic resources.
  • Positive team player who is prompt, accountable and reliable.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and focus on high-touch customer service.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational and communication skills, and comfort learning and using emerging technologies.
  • Previous experience supervising student assistants or staff.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
