Job description

Job Summary

Tatcha is a modern luxury Japanese skincare brand. Our purpose: to inspire self-love as a quiet, lasting revolution. We are seeking a Digital Art Director who understands that luxury is not a category - it is a standard. This role is responsible for shaping the visual language of the brand across all digital touchpoints: e-commerce, paid media, email, and beyond. You will translate brand strategy into imagery, motion, and experience that feels considered, elevated, and unmistakably ours.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Direction & Visual Identity

  • Own the digital expression of the brand across all owned and paid channels, ensuring visual consistency and creative excellence at every touchpoint
  • Develop and evolve the brand's digital design system - typography, color, imagery,ย motion, layout - within established brand guidelines
  • Art direct photography and video shoots for digital use, including e-commerce, campaigns, and social content
  • Partner with the brand creative team to ensure digital executions uphold and extend the brand's luxury positioning

Campaign & Content Development

  • Lead visual concepting for digital campaigns, from seasonal launches to always-on content, KSM and promo, ensuring each execution is strategically grounded and creatively distinctive
  • Translate campaign briefs into cohesive visual narratives that work across formats and platforms
  • Direct external agencies, photographers, retouchers, and production partners with clear creative vision and precise feedback

ย E-Commerce & UX

  • Collaborate with the digital product and UX teams to ensure the brand experience on-site is as considered as the brand experience everywhere else
  • Art direct product and lifestyle imagery with an understanding of how visuals perform in a commerce context - conversion and beauty, not beauty at the expense of conversion

Team & Process

  • Mentor and guide junior designers (a small digital team-up to 4), modeling a standard of craft and intentionality
  • Partner with project management to scope creative timelines realistically and protect the quality of the work
  • Participate in creative reviews with senior stakeholders, presenting work with clarity and conviction

Who You Are
You have an instinct for what luxury looks like - and what it doesn't. You know the difference between beautiful and elevated, and you hold that line even under deadline pressure. You are as comfortable in a brand strategy conversation as you are in a Figma file. You give feedback withย specificity and receive it with openness. You care about the work.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of design experience, with at least 3 years in an art direction or senior design role. Beauty experience is a plus
  • A portfolio that demonstrates luxury fluency - work that is restrained, intentional, and visually sophisticated
  • Deep proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; motion and video editing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience art directing photo and video productions, on-set and in post
  • Strong understanding of digital design principles across web, email, and social platforms
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
  • A discerning eye, a strong point of view, and the professional maturity to advocate for great work
