Job description

smartdept. is searching for a Branding Designer for a financial services client located in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will come with 3+ years of experience. This is a project-based, fully remote (hybrid Chicago area a plus), ongoing as-needed contract opportunity with the possibility of continued work.
This client is a Fortune 200 financial services company building a bench of creative talent at various levels for ad hoc project work. They are open to branding designers across experience levels and want people who can apply and extend a brand system cleanly across a variety of deliverables. The team operates on the Google platform, so comfort in that ecosystem is important.
What You'll Do:
  • Concept and execute brand-aligned design across digital and marketing deliverables
  • Apply and extend brand systems to campaigns, templates, event collateral, and internal marketing materials
  • Support brand consistency across a large internal creative team working across multiple channels
  • Contribute to event branding including a large annual Data Week conference
  • Collaborate with creative leads and communications teams to deliver on-brand work at scale

What You'll Need:
Education/Experience:
  • 3+ years of brand or graphic design experience required
  • Portfolio demonstrating strong brand identity, visual systems, and brand application work required
  • Experience in an agency, in-house, or corporate creative environment required

Skills:
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite required
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace
  • Strong command of typography, visual hierarchy, and brand systems
  • Ability to execute independently on ad hoc assignments and deliver polished work quickly

Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Experience designing within a Fortune 200 or highly regulated industry (financial services, healthcare, etc.)
