What is a digital analytics developer?

A Digital Analytics Developer is a professional who implements, manages, and optimizes analytics solutions on digital platforms, such as websites and mobile apps. They work with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and tag management systems to collect and analyze user data. Their role involves creating and maintaining tracking codes, ensuring accurate data capture, and providing insights that support business decisions. Digital Analytics Developers often collaborate with marketing, design, and engineering teams to improve digital performance and user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a digital analytics developer?

To thrive as a Digital Analytics Developer, you need a strong background in web development, JavaScript, data analysis, and a relevant degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Tag Management Systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager), and data visualization platforms is crucial. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication set high performers apart in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring accurate data collection, insightful analysis, and clear reporting that drive data-driven decision-making for organizations.

How does a digital analytics developer typically collaborate with marketing and IT teams?

Digital Analytics Developers often act as a bridge between marketing and IT teams, ensuring that web analytics tools are properly implemented and data is accurately captured across digital platforms. They work closely with marketers to understand campaign goals and reporting needs, translating those requirements into technical specifications. At the same time, they coordinate with IT or web development teams to integrate tracking codes, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and maintain data integrity. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential, as this role frequently involves explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Description

Emerson’s Test and Measurement Systems group (formerly known as NI) Product R&D has an immediate opening for a Senior Digital Hardware Engineer within our Integrated Products design team in Austin, TX.  In this role, you will have the opportunity to work throughout the product lifecycle to develop products and systems that expand the test and measurement industry's capabilities.  Digital engineers within our Test and Measurement Systems business group stand at the intersection of the many disciplines required to make new products come to life, making this role critical to the team's success.  Through your work you will have opportunities to continue to expand your digital design skills by learning from experienced technical leaders and participating in initiatives to grow the craft of digital design.

IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary hardware engineering teams to develop test and measurement products.

  • Develop register maps and generate documentation to ensure clear design intent to the broader project team.

  • Own the full FPGA design, including logic implementation, data movement and analysis, testbenches, compilation, and timing analysis.

  • Own all aspects of digital board level design, including schematic entry, layout guidelines, signal integrity simulations, and prototype validation.

  • Develop and execute plans for prototype hardware bring-up and board level validation.

  • Be the voice of digital design in project meetings by estimating level of effort for design tasks, providing input on status of work, and proactively raising technical concerns.

WHO YOU ARE: You partner with others to get work done. You can take a creative idea and put it into practice. You build and deliver solutions that meet customer expectations. You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in digital hardware design.
  • Experience using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog to implement synthesizable logic targeting FPGAs.
  • Experience using schematic capture and board layout tools for PCB design.
  • Located within a commutable distance to NI’s offices in Austin, TX, or willing to relocate.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future
    • Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:

  • Experience bringing up prototype hardware.
  • Familiar with common clock domain crossing methods.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design.
  • Knowledge of static timing analysis and experience writing timing constraints.
  • Familiar with board level signal integrity simulation tools.
  • Experience writing and executing test plans to verify board level digital circuits.
  • Experience writing testbenches and simulation models to verify logic designs.
  • Familiar with common benchtop instruments such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, and power supplies.
  • Familiar with Xilinx, Intel or Lattice FPGAs and CPLDs, as well as their design tools.
  • Experience collaborating with other technical disciplines such as Analog, Software, Mechanical, and RF.
  • Knowledge of RF design practices.
  • Familiar with semiconductor, transportation, and/or aerospace test industries.
